these strings last a hell of alot longer than ernie ball but are not as bright. they last longer than ghs boommers and are as bright as them. the problem is that the black coating wears off were you pick, and if you have a floyd rose then expect paint chip every along the fret board. ive been playing for 5 years and only broke 2 strings the higher E string from tunning to high. ive been playing these strings for about a year, and the only reason for it was becuase they stop selling elixer. these are the only strings ive played that compared to the life, tone, and comfort of elixers. i havent played d addario but mybe ill check them out.
DR Black Beauties are the most amazing strings I have ever played on in my life. I have never seen anything that looked this bad ass string-wise, and the feel is flawless. The coating does nothing to the feel of the strings. These strings last 2 months with me, and I practice with my band 2-3 days a week for like 4 hours a day, and play 2-5 shows a month. Not to mention playing alone. Wow. These strings do NOT lose tone. Seriously, just buy these strings. I play Metal and it is extremely brutal on my strings, but these DRs handle it all. Much better than any other string on the market.
Pros:
Look really good at first.
Stay in tune real well.
Slick feeling.
Cons:
Coating randomly wears off quickly.
Dull sounding compared to Ernie Ball Super Slinkys.
Bottom line, these strings aren't reallyworth the money. The only thing they do is hold your tuning real well and they're very stretchy and I've yet to break one.
