Gauges 45-105. Black Beauties are the latest in coated technology. The wire is precoated before winding for extra life and protection. DR Black Beauties are fast and smooth.
I received these strings for Christmas 2006 and they are absolutely phenomenal. With a deep earthy tone and they just make the low end sound so full. My only problem is the fact that the coating near the bottom of the strings come off rather easily.

After trying those other high end coated strings I was looking for something with a little extra punch. The coating on these strings are much thinner and lets the tone through better. The coating does wear off fairly quickly with a pick, but I mainly play finger style and the coating tends to last just as long as any other coated string. Even when it wears through, its not like its hideous looking or anything either. These are the best strings I've played on.

I have a Fender Precision bass that dates back to about 1982, with a mid-range boost. I use nothing else but DR Black Beauty medium. Easy on the fingers and great tone.
