Found out that where the aluminum shaft is threaded, and screws into the base, is very thin & will break. I contacted Musician's Friend and they replaced them. I done some preventative maintainance on the new ones by cutting 3 inch pieces of 1/2 wooden dows, siliconed and inserted them inside the bottom of the shaft to reinforce the threaded area. This has solved the problem with them breaking, but I'm a little disappointed in the quality.

Comments about DR Pro Quick Release Round Base Microphone Stand:

Bought this stand because I wanted easily adjustable & a stand tall enough for me to use without bending down to it (I'm 6'3"). It does meet those qualities, BUT unfortunately, after only 2 uses, the quick release mechanism no longer firmly holds the mic at the height you set. The slightest pressure causes it to move down again.

From the moment I bought this stand, it would not hold the weight of a microphone. Just finished chatting with Guitar Center online. Theres a 45 day return policy of this stand! Mine's going back today and never getting this again..

Works for a while, then the weight of the mic causes the stand to fall. Won't stay up where you put it. Wobbles. In short - unreliable, poorly made

Comments about DR Pro Quick Release Round Base Microphone Stand:

This thing was awesome the first 2 weeks I used it. But over a short period of time, the grip inside the pole became too worn and no longer will support the weight up a microphone without sliding all the way down. Now it is useless unless you plan on holding it upright the entire time. The quick release function is a good thought, but it just gets too loose really quick and then becomes a waste of money.

Comments about DR Pro Quick Release Round Base Microphone Stand:

I ordered this DR Pro stand without seeing it. After talking with a representative on the phone I still didn't know much about it. So I ordered this along with a Hercules stand of the same making. Unfortunately, the DR Pro stand does not compare. It functions okay, but the quality is rather flimsy. It is definitely for light applications. Knowing what I know now I probably will limit my purchases of the DR Pro stand to this one. The Hercules appears to be the much better stand.

Comments about DR Pro Quick Release Round Base Microphone Stand:

I have never had good experiences with easy adjust mic stands. They work great out of the box and generally a few weeks later can't stay up any longer. I am quite impressed with the tripod stand DRPro makes so thought I'd try their version out. Same experience. Works great out of the box, but now only works well if you want to hold it up in the air or you are only 3' tall. It will not stay at up. Just slides right back down. Definitely not worth the money especially when you buy 4 of them like I did. Now I get to replace 4 expensive mic stands. They do well holding the door open for load in still though...

I used this stand for three gigs. By the second gig, it was sliding up and down without me touching the quick release. By the third gig, it couldn't support the weight of my super-light wireless microphone. The same exact thing happened to one of my bandmates when he bought this stand. Terrible product. Don't buy it.

Comments about DR Pro Quick Release Round Base Microphone Stand:

Other reviewers mentioned the connection to the base, I didn't have a problem with that. My problem is the mechanism that moves and holds the top in place. It broke the first night I used it. Now it won't stay where you put it, it just falls down to the bottom. The quality was not what I expected, especially at the price.

It worked fine for me as a drummer for a few months. It fit in the small spaces I had available. It was very stable. Solid adjustments. But, like another reviewer, it broke at the base threads because the outside pipe wall is way too thin. I won't buy another.
