Solid Stand

By Felipe Jose

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about DR Pro DR259 MS1500BK Low Profile Mic Boom Stand:

Bought this stand a few days ago to mic drums with. More than just being a "short" stand, it's pretty versatile as well, allowing me to not only mic a bass drum or snare bottom, but the boom telescopes long enough to let me mic floor toms as well as rack toms. It's a great option as I realize that my mic clips that mount on the drums themselves may be fine for live performance but contribute too much non-mechanical vibration for recording. I'm on my way to buy a few more of these today!

A MUST HAVE STAND!

Comments about DR Pro DR259 MS1500BK Low Profile Mic Boom Stand:

I manage a small sound company. A friend loaned this stand to us for a while. His stand is at least 10 years old, and he's not the first owner...it's got scratches all over it having been well used and thrown into mic stand bins for years. Anyway, this has become our main workhorse for micing anything below 4 feet. It stays right where you put it, and with the double boom, it makes anything possible. My friend had to have his stand back, so we went into our local Guitar Center, and purchased everyone of these that they had on hand! The new reduced price, although a bit high for some working musicians, was enough incentive for us to "pull the trigger" on these beauties. We use them on guitars, kick drum, floor toms, snare drum (both from the top and bottom) and under micing cymbals...you name it. Buy with confidence!

Actually a 5 star stand BUT...

By Curtis Sumter

from Redford, MI

Comments about DR Pro DR259 MS1500BK Low Profile Mic Boom Stand:

This is one of the nicest low profile stands that I have ever used. It is very well made and a long reach. This should be a 5 star rating but I've knock it down to a 4 star for the following 2 reasons. One, I had a hard time locking the stand where it wouldn't spin on me. It stayed in place but if someone would bump it it would turn. Since I use this on a bass drum, that means touching the drum head which would not let the front head resonate freely. I've also had a bass drum head tear when my lead singer hit the stand (not this stand, another brand)and it tore the hole in my bass drum head. Second, it may be to high for some bass drum vent holds. Mine is near the bottom at the 5 o'clock position (Evans Emad) and the mic can reach the hole but can not be put in the drum as I like to mic a bass drum. This is a high quality stand, just not that great for miking a bass drum in all situations.

Solid.

By Cameron Williamson

from Columbus, Ohio

Comments about DR Pro DR259 MS1500BK Low Profile Mic Boom Stand:

Just picked up to for mic'ing drums and guitar amps. Let's just say, I'm impressed. These stands are built right. Solid support legs with rubber joint dampening, and just the right weight. The boom has a substantial reach, almost chest height when fully extended vertically. Tension knobs seem sturdy. Definitely worth the price. I'm going to let a jazz band kick em around a bit, if they hold up, I'll be back for a few more.

Comments about DR Pro DR259 MS1500BK Low Profile Mic Boom Stand:

I received this mic stand with my audix D6 mic.It is made of steel and feels more stable than aluminum stands. It has an extendable boom long enough for me to use as vocal mic when sitting down playing drums.

Comments about DR Pro DR259 MS1500BK Low Profile Mic Boom Stand:

I bought this stand along with 3 K&M telescopic boom stands. The DR and the K&M are very similar in construction, weight and stability. You wouldn't go wrong with either stand. I use this DR specifically for my kick drum using a Shure PGA52. It's not going anywhere. The metal on the stand is heavy-duty. The metal coating on the DR's is slightly shinier than th K&M, but not a significant difference. Very adjustable and could cover anywhere on the 24-inch head. I do prefer the K&M tightening lugs compared to the DRs, but both are very functional. Good quality stand. It will last you a long time.
