  • Great Value and takes Lots of Abuse

As reviewed by Worship Cat on 6/29/2007

I purchased the DR Pro Tripod Mic Boom Stand about 3 months ago for the church where I am on the worship team. I needed a mic boom stand that was somewhat heavy duty but affordable and yet would take the abuse that things get around church. This mic stand does everything I need it to do, is not whimpy and has weathered all the abuse just fiine so far. The only minor drawback is that the pivot adjustment comes loose fairly easily, allowing the boom swing if not tightened.

  • By far the best...

As reviewed by PeteM on 2/4/2010

I worked with a band recently that had a mixed bag of mic stands (both straight and booms). Of course, being the "scratch" player I got the most cheesy stand available which, to be honest, was just as cheesy as my own stand. After the gig I was helping load out when I spied the DR Pro Tripod Boom stand - what a difference. This is one heavy duty professional stand! All the components are extremely fine machined (no wobble at any connection) and the unit as a whole is about as sturdy as anyone could hope for. They even included two mic cable clips: 1 for the upright and 1 for the boom which was a very nice touch. Bottom Line: This is the best mic stand for non-studio work by far.

  • DR PRO boom mic stand superior to On-Stage boom mic stand

As reviewed by John Young on 12/16/2008

I play drums and am responsible for micing my own equipment. I use a bass drum mic, a snare mic and 2 overhead mics. I started out with an 'On-Stage' brand boom mic stand but, with the height and booms fully extended, the stand is very unstable and is prone to tipping over. In addition, the metric carraige bolt at the boom angle/length adjustment stripped and is NOT replaceable (just try and find a 9mm carraige bolt at Home Depot, Lowes or any hardware store...I couldn't even find one on the internet!!!). I checked out all of the boom stands at my local Guitar Center and found the DR PRO boom mic stand to have a heavier and wider base, taller height and longer boom length. I bought 2 of them and they both stand up very nicely, even at full height and with the boom arm fully extended. Unfortunately, this stand also employs a 9mm carraige bolt so if it strips (and it really should NOT) then I'm out of luck again but, based on the higher quality of the DR PRO stand, I don't expect that to happen any time soon. I would probably buy this stand again!
