  • Great Value and takes Lots of Abuse

As reviewed by Worship Cat on 6/29/2007

I purchased the DR Pro Tripod Mic Boom Stand about 3 months ago for the church where I am on the worship team. I needed a mic boom stand that was somewhat heavy duty but affordable and yet would take the abuse that things get around church. This mic stand does everything I need it to do, is not whimpy and has weathered all the abuse just fiine so far. The only minor drawback is that the pivot adjustment comes loose fairly easily, allowing the boom swing if not tightened.

  • By far the best...

As reviewed by PeteM on 2/4/2010

I worked with a band recently that had a mixed bag of mic stands (both straight and booms). Of course, being the "scratch" player I got the most cheesy stand available which, to be honest, was just as cheesy as my own stand. After the gig I was helping load out when I spied the DR Pro Tripod Boom stand - what a difference. This is one heavy duty professional stand! All the components are extremely fine machined (no wobble at any connection) and the unit as a whole is about as sturdy as anyone could hope for. They even included two mic cable clips: 1 for the upright and 1 for the boom which was a very nice touch. Bottom Line: This is the best mic stand for non-studio work by far.

  • Just another cheap mic stand

As reviewed by Monty on 5/27/2011

I don't understand all the glowing accolades for these stands! They're not horrible garbage, but really I see very little difference between these and any other cheap-o, made-in-Taiwan mic stands. I bought a couple of these, looked 'em over for a while, was totally unimpressed and took 'em back. For a few dollars more, I bought an Atlas MS-10 and a PB15 boom attachment. (GC and MF do not carry the PB15 fixed-length boom. They only have the adjustable-length PB21, which in my opinion is not worth the trouble because it only "adjusts" +/- 10 inches, has more moving parts to work loose, and steps-down to smaller diameter tubing at the mic end. The more reliable PB15 is also cheaper than the PB21. Atlas stands are so much better than anything else. I still have (and still use) Atlas stands that are 30 years old and still work perfectly. I am aware that good ol' Atlas stands are now made off-shore like everything else, but they are still way-better than anything else. If you care about having quality stuff, buy Atlas stands.
