Overview

One of the first phaser effect pedals ever made, the original DOD Phasor 201, blazed the trail for all phaser pedals after it. The new DOD Phasor 201 (2013) brings the classic analog phaser effect driven by 40+ years of tone-creating experience. The new 2013 DOD Phasor 201 is better than ever before, with true bypass, a crisp blue LED indicator, and modern 9V DC power supply input. Redesigned with a lighter aluminum chassis, sleek blue metallic flake and flat black matte bottom paint job, the 2013 DOD Phasor 201 pedal is a refined take on classic phasing effects, with an incredible new look.

The operation of the 2013 DOD Phasor 201 is pure simplicity. Like the original, the Speed knob controls the depth and speed of the phasing effect, with great tone at any range. True bypass allows your guitar tone to remain pristine even when the DOD Phasor 201 (2013) is off. This is a big difference from the original which would color your bypassed tone. The modern 9V DC power supply input make the pedal more pedal board friendly.

Features
  • Legendary analog phaser tone
  • True-bypass
  • 9V DC power supply input
  • Crisp blue status LED

Lush , warm , 2 stage phasor with useable sweep no matter where I set it and your bandmates won't be looking at you sideways if you use it.

Nice to see them go back to circuit designs from the 70's that have people scouring the earth for vintage pedals. Now I don't have to worry about sketchy old pedals that are suffering from 30 or 40 years of metal fatigue. With a monster company like Harmon Industries backing DOD and intelligent designs , I can't wait to see what's next for DOD.

I own about 40 pedals and about seven of which are phasers and this little gem is has won the grand prize of permenant pedalboard position.

The true bypass does NOT have that crazy POP when engaging the pedal. I've invested too much to risk blowing a tweeter by whatever signal surge is responsible for that insipid pop from engaging pedals from other manufacturers.

Having read the other reviews here , I find their comments accurate.

Good Job everybody at DOD !!!!!

Now your DOD Compressor 280 is next on my hit list.

We'll start with the good: this is a great sounding pedal. As it uses a two-stage phase as opposed to MXR's Phase-90 which uses a four-stage phase, you are able to get usable sounds no matter where you have the single knob turned. Keep it around 8-o'clock or 9-o'clock to darken a Strat's tone slightly, bump it up to 1-o'clock for a watery sound, or go full on mixed with an analog delay for some Studio-54 type rhythm playing.

Now, the bad: the switch. I have honestly taken off two stars because of the bad switch design. When you hit it, you'll hear the click of it engaging, but the LED does not activate. You strum your guitar, and no audio is coming it out. Hit it again, and this time you disengage the pedal and audio comes out. Click it again a few more times, and the LED finally comes on and with it the effect. I've tried other pedals from DOD and they are the same, which has honestly lead me to NOT buy a few of them and go with another brand. Don't expect to be switching this on in the middle of the song for a bridge or something.

While I've kept mine, unless you're willing to leave the effect on during the entire song, or you have a looper to control when the effect is on or off, then no, I would not recommend this.

Comments about DOD Phasor 201 Analog Phaser/Pitch Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:

I purchased this for my son and his slowly growing rig. I am thinking that I would like to add one to mine. I already have a hand wired Phase 90 script, but this one has another mild unique sound that I really like.

      simple, subtle and quiet

      By Paul

Comments about DOD Phasor 201 Analog Phaser/Pitch Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:

I was after a phasor/univibe type of sound butI didn't want that obvious and obnoxious "woosh-woosh" or "wah-wah-wah" sound, just a slight wavering effect. This pedal delivers. It can almost be too subtle at slow settings with distortion, with my distortion pedals anyway (TC Electronics). Not the right pedal for that Eddie Van Halen thing. If you're looking for a tasteful, not in-your-face phaser effect, this is the one to buy.

Comments about DOD Phasor 201 Analog Phaser/Pitch Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have several phasers including the EHX small stone, phase 90, etc. This pedal is unique. It gives u the perfect amount to phasing even at the lowest setting. Very Retro and very useful too. Add a little distortion and it sounds even better:) Also check out the other DOD reissue pedals.

        Clean Phaser

Comments about DOD Phasor 201 Analog Phaser/Pitch Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:

Didn't know what to expect from DOD. I have another phaser and did a side-by-side comparison of my old one to this new one. The DoD Phasor 201 is much better than what I had. I usually put a phaser early in the chain, before any overdrive/distortion pedals (my personal preference, do what you like). This DoD phaser is very clean - no hiss or hum - especially when compared to my older phaser (not an MXR if you're wondering). I'm happy with the purchase!

Comments about DOD Phasor 201 Analog Phaser/Pitch Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:

Great sounding one knob phase shifter. Seems to be well constructed. It gets you into Some Girls territory. Decent Leslie sim on the cheap. A control for the amount would be nice, but I knew it didn't have that when I bought it. Overall, good stuff.

Great Phaser! Nice and subtle two-stage design. Recommended for those who think the Phase 90 is a bit too drastic, but like the form factor.

Comments about DOD Phasor 201 Analog Phaser/Pitch Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:

I love phasers. Sometimes a 4 stage phaser is too much for a band setting. This is where the 2 stage DOD comes in handy. Have your bandmates asked you to blend in dry or out phase? Just use a 2 stage instead of a 4. This unit is great, the pedal is small and medium weight. For the price at GC you can't go wrong!
