D'Angelico support rocks.

By David

from Burlington KY

Pros

  • Blue burst color and tone

Cons

    Best Uses

    • I am not a professional, and cannot suggest best

Comments about D'Angelico EXL-1 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I have some arthritis in my left hand, and found the factory .012 gauge strings too stiff for my fingers, and the action set too high. The support I received from D'Angelico deserves my highest accolades. They worked with me for two weeks, and helped me drop to a set of .010 Electrozinc strings, and helped me get the intonation dead on by sending a Tune-O-Matic bridge as an alternate to the stock wood bridge. The guitar center luthier made a truss rod adjustment, but the OEM Tune-O-Matic bridge would not fit. The D'Angelico professional said I need not return it to them. The two holes in the bridge did not match the stud spacing on the saddle. So used a file to slot one hole on the bridge ever so slightly just until it slid down the posts on the saddle. Now the technician at the Guitar Center was able to nail the intonation for all six strings, make a slight truss rod adjustment, lower the action and improve the play ability for my arthritic left hand. None of this would have been possible were it not for the wonderful support by D'Angelico. Now I have a beautiful guitar that plays with ease. This guitar is wonderful stock from the factory, but anyone can modify it for to suit your own playing style handicaps.

    Sweet guitar

    Pros

    • Warm jazz tone

Comments about D'Angelico EXL-1 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

A fantastic guitar. Great warm tone with great action. A dream to play and looks fantastic. Also the people at D'Angelico are great. They helped answer questions to make sure I got the right model for me. I would highly recommend this guitar for anyone looking for a great jazz box. I had an Epiphone JP previously but the D'Angelico blows it away. Totally (yes a bit more expensive but totally worth it)
