Very disappointed - too stretchy - low volume

By Bruce Bubier

Comments about D'Addario J62 80/20 Phosphor Bronze Mandolin Strings:

Yeah, these are inexpensive, that's why I tried them, ordered three sets. After putting a set on the first thing I noticed was that the E strings were VERY quiet. Overall my mandolin is quitar with these strings. The G,D,& A strings sounded balanced, but the high E I could barely hear, quite a different level than the others. The other thing I don't like about these strings is that even after 3+ hours of playing they are still stretching out. I'm having to tune them after every song. All strings have an "adjustment period" where they stretch out and then settle down. Maybe these will after another hour or two, but that's just too darned long. I think I'm going to return the other two sets and get something a little higher quality.

very good mandolin strings

Comments about D'Addario J62 80/20 Phosphor Bronze Mandolin Strings:

So far, I have only use D'Addario strings on my mandolins (owning and playing 8 of them so far, two still in my possessions). This brand of strings turn a dull sounding mandolin into a lively one.
When I bought a mandolin (either new or used), the first thing is to put on this new set of strings and the mandolin sounds way better.

Great Sound

Comments about D'Addario J62 80/20 Phosphor Bronze Mandolin Strings:

I bought a Michael Kelly mandolin after a year of learning on an A-style no-name. I went to M.F. and bought about 15 different strings that I replaced about every week or so. There were two strings that came out on top. The GHS Bright Bronze Medium Light and the D?Addario J62, but I think I like the GHS more. BTW, it took some time and patience to check out so many different strings but well worth the time. There were two string that I took off after 3 days they sounded so bad.

Always Works For Me

Comments about D'Addario J62 80/20 Phosphor Bronze Mandolin Strings:

i've been playing on these strings for about 4 years now and i love them. the price is great and the quality can easily match up with some of the more high quality strings (such as ghs). i did notice when i first started using these strings i was also breaking the e string constantly. ended up my bridge needed to be adjusted and that was all.

E strings broke; get higher gauge

By FrankeMassenburg

from South Texas

Comments about D'Addario J62 80/20 Phosphor Bronze Mandolin Strings:

The winding at the bottom of bot E strings broke while I was restringing. I would definitely recommend a higher gauge, such as 11s. Elixirs are amazing, and even though more expensive, would recommend them many times over these.
