Leave well enough....alone!

By Edward

from Chesapeake VA.

I have been playing guitar for 47 years, but now mainly for myself, I work on jazz. Some of my acoustic guitars have come equipped with another well known coated brand of strings and I thought they sounded great, so I switched my archtops to the same brand. Big mistake! I thought my ears were suffering, because the subtle nuances I was use to hearing were gone. I also thought that my wound thirds sounded funny or dead. I recently had some set-up work done on one of my archtops and the tech told me to purchase a replacement set, so I chose the D'Addario EJ21XL's and was very surprised when it sounded SO MUCH better !!! Needless to say, but I changed the other archtops back and they too sounded great. I most likely will be ghanging all of my guitars back to D'Addario strings!

BEST Rythm Guitar Strings

By Morgan

from Scappoose, OR

Ive been using these strings for over a year now and couldn't be happier. I started out using these when I was tuned down a whole step but now I tune to standard and they are even better.Perfect for really fast metal guitar playing. The wound 3rd string is great for pinch harmonics and I like the timbre better than a plain string for chords. They do take some getting use to at first but the stability and sound is worth it. It is a little harder to solo(and tapping is near impossible) so if you are really into playing leads I would bump down to the 11-52's or the 11-49's.That being said I play mostly rythm guitar in a metal band and these strings are perfect for the job.

best strings i've used

By joe

from nj

i've been using these since october when i got my new guitar and wanted heaveyer gauge strings to get higher gain on and because the g string was wound. i so far have only had 2 problems with these strings. one is on my guitar with a floyd rose tremolo and every time i go to play a song and play a note on the b string it sounds out of tune so i check the tuning on it and its almost an a note. another problem was when i was raaising the action on my b.c. rich warlock when i tuned down the high e sting it just snapped. but overall extremely good strings for playing thrash metal. they get good tone for slayer songs and 80's metllica. they sound best in my opinion in half step down tuning, when i've also tried drop d and standard. i've also used fender super bullets and ernie ball power slinkies but these by far have the best tone and last awile

AWESOME!

By Alex

from grand rapids, MI

There could be no better strings than these right here. They have a great feel and sound great too. If you are into metal and drop C tuning these strings are perfect. what also makes them even better is because the nickel wound g-string. Because, with a plain string let's say gauge .18 sound's really sloppy and loose. but with the nickle wound .24 it sounds so much better and you can still play those shreddin' solo's!
