The Planet Waves Chromatic Pedal Tuner is a sweep and strobe tuner with patent-pending intuitive rotary user interface housed in a rugged, roadworthy metal enclosure. An oversized note name indicator and super-bright tuning LEDs combine to make on-stage tuning easy in all lighting conditions. Professional features like true hard bypass for preserved tone and dual 9v AC jacks make the instrument tuner at home in any pedalboard configuration.
In Strobe mode, the played note appears in green on the oversized rotary display while red LEDs chase clockwise if you're sharp and counterclockwise if you're flat. They slow down and finally stop as you nail the pitch. In Sweep mode, the LEDs sweep left or right indicating whether you're flat or sharp.
A big, multi-segment note indicator in the center of the display is very legible when standing. The pedal activates the mute/bypass circuit while 3 controls above it select the tuning mode and user-selectable A435—A445 calibration.
The pedal instrument tuner runs on an included 9V battery and has 9V I/O for daisy-chaining other pedals. With its large display and true bypass that doesn't mess with your tone, it's ideal for electric guitar players who have to perform in dark conditions and who use pedalboards.

I just purchased this tuner from the Guitar Center in San Jose. So far, I'm happy with the purchase and haven't had any of the issues described by others. The display is large and shows the note, in addition to the large lights which indicate if you're flat or sharp. The housing is very sturdy metal and has a chrome finish. I'm running it into a Splawn Competition (50W, modified marshall-type head) and don't have any noise problems. I'm running off the 9V battery. You can choose between silent tuning and audible tuning, depending on which jack you use. The box indicates that this device has a "true bypass" which is good to me. Overall, I like the value in this product.

Wen't to Guitar Center planning on getting the BOSS pedal tuner or the Korg pedal tuner. When I mentioned what I wanted this guy just insisted that I get the Planet Waves pedal tuner because they'd been selling alot and had good reviews. So I said it's got a bigger display and it's cheaper and they through in some patch cables with it. Good deal I thought. This thing makes an awful hum when in silent tuning mode. Everytime the lights change on the pedal it changes tone of the hum and is very irritating. So if you use a powered pedal board(such as a Furman) with any kind of distortion or wah(or anything with a high gain) this isn't a good idea. I'm definately returning this product.

I've used this petal now for over a year and never had a problem with it. I play 4 to 6 gigs a month, used it in several different configurations and it delivers. It has an extra jack to output 9V to another pedal if you are using an AC adapter, so you can power 2 pedals with one adapter. It has two outputs, one to use the mute feature of the pedal and one to send the signal straight through. It has two modes of tuning, strobe and sweep. I find the strobe mode extra useful when making intonation adjustments on your guitar, and use the sweep mode during gigs. Lastly, this thing is built better than any other pedal I've ever owned. It's a tank! You would have to really mistreat this pedal to break it. Players, you can't go wrong owning this pedal.
I've only had this tuner a week, but am glad it was recommended by GC. Heavy weight so it stays put. Excellent display. Very accurate. And it the finish matches the hardware on my new SR700!
I went to Guitar Center in Hobart cause my band was practicing the next day and i needed a tuner pedal. So i go in and buy this pedal when i got home it wouldnt work at all! The lights on it were flashing but when i would play a note nothing would happen. I would return it but i lost my reciept.
After selling my Crate amp with the built in tuner I found myself needing a tuner to place on my board. I was looking at Boss and Korg which I am sure are great but after my band Rehearsal I decided on this one from Plantet Waves. 1st the price is great. 2nd visibility is awesome. 3rd, Accurate and responsive. Lastly, its a Tank... except for the plastic pedal portion. BUT my bass player stated it broke on him, he sent it in to Planet Waves and expecting just fixing it... THEY sent him a new one fast! So just don't stomp on it like your other pedals and you should have no problem. Off to GC to get one!
Everything bad that the other reviews note are true. This tuner does have a terrible hum that made it impossible to use unless my amp was in standby mode. The LED is impossible to read during outdoor gigs. But most importantly, it broke completely after my 4th gig. The battery compartment wouldn't stay shut and it would not tune. Don't even think about buying this, get a Boss Tuner.
Only buy this tuner if you plan on replacing it after 1 year. After the second battery change it developed a short in the battery connector. I was able to get a replacement part from Radio Shack and make the repair myself. On the next battery change the tab to open the battery compartment broke off. I was not able to fix this, but the tuner still worked. The next time I was back in the store I told the sales guy about my problem and he said that the same thing happened to his tuner. About 3 months later the switch to turn it on and off broke. Now it's dead! I have a large collection of effects pedals. Most are over 5 years old. I have never had one fall apart like this one. If I pay this much for a tuner I expect it to last longer than 1 year. Pro: It tracked the signal very fast and was very accurate. Con: Poor Construction Quality
This thing is great. huge display, nice no skid back. most importantly, this thing is DURABLE. I have put mine through ALOT. played at least 250 shows with it over the last 2 years and i have never had a single problem with it. when your a touring musician, thats what counts.
I bought the Planet Waves Chromatic Pedal Tuner today and it is great. I wanted to buy a strob tuner, but I couldn't afford the super high-priced tuners. When I saw this pedal and saw that it was from Planet Waves, I bought it. It is really heavy which is a good thing because it can take a beating. The no-skid back is great. I would recommend this pedal tuner to anyone!
If you use a none isolated power supply with other pedals this tuner is not for you. A distorted tone is heard threw your amp while tuning regardless if your using the muted output or not. If you batteries or an isolated power supply you'll be fine.
This is a great tuner that is practically bullet proof. It's solid and durable, and you could probably drive nails with it too! It has an excellent display that is perfect and easily visible from a normal distance, a strobe mode, and tunes easily in 440 and reads sharp & flat for easy detuning! Uses a 9 volt battery or you can purchase a power supply as well.
