Planet Waves' gold-plated 1/4" straight instrument cable has near-perfect frequency response, double-insulated/double-shield coverage, and low triboelectric (handling noise). The plug is soldered, covered with an internal copper shield tube, and then over-molded, first with a rigid PVC to encapsulate the solder joints, and then with a flexible polymer for unprecedented strain relief. This virtually indestructible construction is so tough, so durable, that it carries a limited lifetime warranty.

Just picked up a Planet Waves Custom Pro cable. Supposedly top of the line. Actually, their promo is a line...of BS. The Custom Pro is the same as the Custom, just with different connectors. In fact, the company's own product comparison chart on the packaging shows that the Circuit Breaker cable is more audibly transparent than the Custom Pro. How's that for "the ultimate"? The sound of the cable itself is like playing through a high-pass filter ۡ kills the bass and low-mids. The signal that does come through the cable is overly bright, lacking smoothness, and with much less "air" than my cheap ProCo cable I've used for years. I'm sure there are bona fide "boutique" cables that offer richer sound than a standard cable, but Planet Waves doesn't fall into that category. Avoid.
I use this cable for the mono out of my Korg MS-20 analogue synthesizer. My MS-20 sounds much more lively than I did compared to a cheap HOSA 1/4" cable. This cable is a bit expensive, and that's probably why I only own one of them. However, they come with a lifetime warranty, and if I needed more 1/4" instrument cables I would definately consider this as an option.
I own four 5' lengths of Planet Waves Gold-Plated 1/4" Straight Instrument Cables (Item #PW-G-05), and will now use no other brand of cable. These cables are durable, and provide a great connection to your equipment. The gold-plated connections also guard against the corrosion that other metals are prone to, and the double-insulated / dounble-shielded cables stop hum and triboelectric noise dead in its tracks! Planet Waves cables are plugged into a total of twenty 1/4" jacks in my total setup, and they deliver an awesome signal! Planet Waves guarantees all of its cables for life, and they're built to last a lifetime! These cables are well-worth the investment!
The planet waves cables are great cables. Although they are somewhat expensive, they have great sound and come with a lifetime warranty, where planet waves will replace a dead cable at no cost. Thus in essence, you are buying one cable for your lifetime. Really a good cable, buy some for great sound.
