Overview

Planet Waves, in collaboration with Humidipak, brings you the first two-way humidity controller that maintains a constant 45% relative humidity level. The patented Planet Waves Humidipak completely eliminates all the guesswork and anxiety of maintaining your musical instrument's proper humidity level. No more guessing if or when to refill the humidifier and worrying about drips or mess. Unlike all refillable humidifiers, the Humidipak acts as a gauge because it provides true "two-way" purified humidity control. It adds or reduces moisture only as needed to maintain 45% RH - the ideal climate for wooden instruments such as acoustic guitars.

Just place 2 packets in the double pouch. Put the double pouch over your D and G strings and let it hang down into the soundhole. Place the third packet under your guitar's headstock in its case. Close the case and you're done. The packet will last anywhere from 2-6 months, depending on the humidity where you are. When the packet become firm, discard and replace. The Humidipak humidity controller is as simple as that!

Features
  • True two-way Humidity control
  • Maintains constant 45%RH within instrument case
  • No water, no drips, no mess

About 6 mouths ago I got a Jumbo Taylor 315ce and wanted to upgrade my Humidity Control System. I was sick of messing around with water guess-work! So I walked into a guitar center and they told me to try this. Simply amazing! I never have to worry! Just check the pack every month to see when you need a new one! Lasts more like 4 months.

This product is not all it claims to be. Don't think it will bring your guitar's case to 45% humidity. It will only maintain what you already have. I tried these and have not gotten the kind of results promised. The packets will last about three months or so, and then you will to purchase more... three more packets every three months or so. When this product originally came out it worked wonderfully. The variations (so they won't leak on your guitar) are not as good imho.

Planet Waves Humidipack

By Scott

from Baltimore, MD

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves Two-Way Humidification System:

Very easy to use, set it and forget it No fooling around with water and syringes like the Oasis models. Just open the package, put the humidipacks in their holders, drop one in the case and hang the other in the soundhole & you're done

Better than expected

By Alan

from Westport Island, Maine

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves Two-Way Humidification System:

I tried the Humidpaks over the past several months and was delighted to find that they exceeded my expectations. I live on an island off the coast of Maine where weather conditions change constantly. Humidipak has allowed me to forget the stress I constantly lived with in trying to maintain my Martins in the best possible condition.

Beware - This system is not all it's cracked up to be

By mark

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves Two-Way Humidification System:

I live in Colorado and so have to take guitar humidification very seriously. It's a labor of love, but I'm always looking for something more convenient than wetting sponges since I travel frequently with work and can't reliably service them - and it's a pain in the behind. I've tried the humidipak system twice, the previous generation and the "new and improved" version. In both cases the paks only last about 3 weeks in this climate. There are a few problems with the design. Stuffing the saddlebag style pouches into the sound hole between the middle strings requires bending the strings to allow enough room. I prefer to slip them in between the e-strings and sound hole on each side. As the paks dry out, they get harder to slip into place. If you leave it in too long (a few weeks) the paks will dry out and get rock hard and then you'll have to be careful removing them without damaging the sound hole. It takes more than 3 paks per case to get the RH anywhere close to 40%. With only 3 guitars it's a small fortune to keep them all outfitted in humidipaks. These might work ok in moderately humid climates but they fail miserably in the high desert of Colorado. I'm going back to sponges - sigh, for my Taylor, Cordoba and Epiphone Sheraton II.

It works for me

By Bill Jasso

from Ohio

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves Two-Way Humidification System:

I live in Northeast Ohio. Winter humidity rarely gets above 20%. In summer it can get to 80%. Humidipak has been great for my Martins. Keeping a hydrometer in the case, they all remain at 44-47% levels. Humidipaks have lasted over a month with no signs of drying out. Haven't used them in summer yet, but they were well worth the price for keeping the guitars humidified in the winter.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves Two-Way Humidification System:

The original system I purchased a few years ago had one single and one double sleeve or pouch and was super simple to use. This new soundhole sleeve or pouch is horrible. Very poor design. Would not purchase this again unless they replace the double pouch!!!

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves Two-Way Humidification System:

The older pouches work better for me. They changed it to a plastic kind of sleeve to make it easier to slide into the sound hole. The problem is you have to clip the packets in the bag with a 2 dumb plastic pieces.
My guitars kind of nice & I don't trust the plastic piece's to not rough up my guitar when I travel. I returned this kit & bought some of the older style kits I like on a popular online auction website.
I will say that the newer style pouch is a little easier to slide out. However for me it is not worth the sacrifice of having to worry about it scratching my wood or the plastic pieces breaking.
Looks like something that is designed to break where as the old pouches would probably last you for life. I advise you to stock up on older style pouches if you like them.
The benefit of the older style pouches is that it was just a piece of fabric w/ 2 pouch pockets/no plastic. It was easy enough to just drape around or in-between the strings & not very hard to carefully slide out of the sound hole.
If it ain't broke don't fix it D'Addario!
