Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves Cortex Guitar Picks:

Really stoked to find Ultem (a type of thermoplastic) picks for this price - normally they run 35-50 cents a piece.

But, I guess you get what you pay for. The 100 pack is a great deal, and I think the largest bulk quantity available for this type pick, but they just don't seem to be as hard of a material as Dunlop's Ultex picks.

Not to completely bag on these things - they're fine for 99 percent of playing. Where is the issue? Pick-slides and scrapes.
Optimally, you want a pick that isn't going to get a notch torn into it the first time you do a pick-slide. Sadly, these don't hold up to the task.

      So, bottom line:
      I like these picks.
      They're affordable in bulk.
But the material isn't as good as Dunlop's, and they end up being kinda disposable.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves Cortex Guitar Picks:

I ordered a dozen of these and have been looking for a better type of plastic for picks to use on fast acoustic strumming. I love the feel, flex and the sound these picks generate. However after a couple days with one of the picks I split the pick in half. I do play a bit aggressively and I did order the thin's but I haven't had a pick split since using the cheapy jell picks back in my beginning days... So I will order a thicker set and give them another shot as I like the sound these generate on accoustic.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves Cortex Guitar Picks:

These are the picks I've been looking for for twenty years! Like Claytons but better, the mediums for acoustic just bring a smile to my face every time I play. Thank you Planet Waves!

          Amazing...

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves Cortex Guitar Picks:

This product claims to feel and sound like real tortoiseshell. There are a multitude of picks on the market that make the same claims. This one delivers the goods. I have used a wide variety of picks, both vintage and high tech, and these come the closest to duplicating the sound of the real deal. Nothing will ever reproduce the sound exactly, but this pick is scary close! Of course it depends on what gauge picks you are comparing. I really like these picks. I usually use celluloid, because I prefer that sound to the tortoiseshell sound for most applications. Give these picks a try, they are inexpensive, and really surprised me. I am always trying new picks, searching for that elusive sound. I was skeptical when I ordered them, but they proved me wrong. Do they feel like real tortoiseshell? Not really, but they stay in your hand and feel good.
A lot of pick for the money!
