I got this a few weeks back and it works amazingly. The ammount of cords on this library blew my mind away and the differenet cord combos. The tuner works perfectly and the metronome. The little stand on the back of it cracked after 3 days of using it tho and not to hard of force either. If this was made of better plastic it would be perfect but other than the stand it is everything it says and more

Doesn't have the ability to enter a chord design. You can only pick from the available chords programed in the device. Thus, chords like Am7/G aren't there.

not impressed

By kevin

from kfalls or

No problem with the metronome--hard to screw that up unless you're really trying. The chord finder might come in handy when you're out in the boonies without your laptop, but too much hunting through the lists for my taste. And the tuner? Forget it. Stupid thing goes nuts even in a dead silent room. One minute I'm flat/sharp - turn it off, come back and get different readings (sometimes a whole half-step). Made in China says it all to me - should've known. Resorting to writing my own laptop program .

Why not do it right all thr way?

By Jim

Pros: Great idea, portable, nice looking, versatile. Good for beginners, nice metronome. cons: Missing some essential chord types(no slash chords except one type), lack of sturdiness, no volume control, average tuner.

Nice package, ideal gift and tool

By Thanh

from San Jose, CA

I bought this thinking it would be great for my students. It was a tad too costly to buy 30 of these but I wanted to test it out. I think it's great. You get a few voicings, a few quality of chords, very visual, a tuner, and a metronome that I can actually hear. Unfortunately, you can't hear the chords (I guess it would have to be a little more sophisticated) but it's very useful and I use it as a teaching tool and for myself. Some quick generic movable shapes for some chords at the tip of you fingers :)

Great to Own

By Gary Tompkins

Okay. So the stand on the back really is flimsy - big deal! I really don't see the need to use it. The chord library is what I purchased it for and boy did I get my moneys worth! The number of chord variations is simply mind boggling! Of course you will never use them all and some are almost impossible to play; like playing twister with your fingers! If you need to find a chord your not familiar with quickly (and who doesn't every now and then) then this is an essential piece of gear. It is small in size so it will fit easily into any gig bag. I haven't tried the tuner yet so I can't comment on that but again, that's not why I bought it. If your looking for a quick and easy chord reference then this is the king of them all! Buy it!

Wow, what a pile of crud.

By Marla B.

from Austin, TX

I thought this was going to be a great tool, and yes, the features all in one device are all very nice and handy (less to have to haul around), but a simple 1.5 foot drop onto fairly soft linoleum tiles knocked the internal metronome speaker loose inside the casing - and there is no way to open the thing up to fix it without totally destroying it. I expected the cheap plastic pivoting stand on the back to be the first thing on this to break, but apparently not. To be fair, the features are nice to have, though difficult to navigate, and the tuning feature does work, but gives some pretty wonky readings sometimes (a slight flat or sharp displays as drastically sharp or flat, which makes tuning take longer due to over-compensating) I do like the fact that this thing is back-lit, but will only stay on for about 3 minutes before turning itself off (not just the backlight, the whole device turns off - which makes NO sense) There is no user manual - only the brief instructions printed on the box. I am less than pleased with this purchase.

Useful 3-in-1 tool for your bag

By Playz4fun

from Fort Worth, TX

I have only been using this for a few days. However, I have been pleased by the number of chords in the library. It does not have some of the chords that are commonly used in Christian rock. However, it has more than many of the chord books I own and I am very pleased with it. I have also been very pleased with the quality and accuracy of the tuner. I have compared it against several other sources and found it to be very precise and easy to use. The metronome is well designed and thought out. Rather than just tap out tones at each beat, it also asks for an inpout for the number of beats per measure and gives a different tone and light pulse for the down beat of the measure.

Must have tool

By Randy Russell

from Florida

This is a great little tool for any guitar player.I would give this 5 stars except for the fact it is a little time consuming to locate the chord your looking for.You have to push buttons many times to sequence to the sought after chord. It's not to bad once you get the hang of it though.Overall I'm glad I purchased this item.

Great gadget

By Chuck

from Killeen, Texas

Nice features for the money. Have to agree with a previous comment that the flip-out stand on the back is rather flimsy. Would not want to get too extreme with it. The backlight display really helps and is not something I would have thought I needed. This will be a great gift for both new students and those of us looking for alternate chordings.

Excellent little gadget

By Syd

from Louisville, KY

I bought the Chordmaster primarily for my son who is learning guitar, but I'm finding that I use it as much as he does. The chord calculator works well and doesn't take long to learn to work. It has the additional function of tuner and metronome which also work well and are easy to learn. I particularly like the lighted display option so that you can use it in less than optimal lighting conditions.
