This is a cheap fix to keeping your instrument from drying out. The Planet Wave Body Guard humidifier is cheap but efficient. It does what it is designed to do... keeps the guitar from becoming too dry. Easy to use... easy to install and refill and will not damage your guitar. A good investment if you have a nice instrument you want to keep in great shape and keep it sounding good for years to come. If you don't have one... it's worth it. Pick one up today.

I have an OM size acoustic and I bought this humidifier, followed the instructions and placed it between the D&G strings. Sure, it holds securely, but it was VERY tight and I got the impression it would stretch the strings if left there for any length of time. Removing it was a pain and you have to stretch the strings open to pull it out. I didn't stretch the strings enough by hand and the humidifier case has grooves and tabs that caught the strings bad enough to actually damage the outer wrap on one and cause a mark on the other. The supplied sponge is so small that I wonder why they made the case so huge. If the case was about 50% slimmer and it fit more gently in the strings I would use it. As it is now, I wouldn't even consider this.

Old dog, new trick

By david

from Bedford,TX

I played for over 40 years, but never used a humidifier. After making the big $$$ purchase of a Taylor 814CE,I was looking at some of their videos on care. They recommend use of a humidifier so I bought this unit to take care of my investment. I decided to see what effect it had on my other acoustics . . . The difference was unbelievable, they all 4 sounded like completely different guitars. Back was the deep throatiness that made me fall in love with each of them to begin with. I nearly took the Taylor back. They now each have one & I can't decide which one to play. I think this is a minor investment for a must have care tool.

Easy & helpful humidifier.

By Nic

from Monticello, Iowa

I bought a few of these humidifiers not to long ago and they are so easy to use. All you have to do to use one is just take the sponge out of the plastic box and get it wet then wring it out and put it back in the plastic box and then put the box inside your instrument case. It does a really incredible job at keeping your acoustic bass/banjo/guitar/mandolin/violin/ukulele/ETC humidified. I highly recommend it for the price and the good quality.

Just Add Water!

By Little

from Woodland Hills, CA

This little gizmo is easy to use and should help keep the humidity level in your guitar case at the proper level. Just add water, slip the cartidge bewteen the D and G strings and off you go. The cartirdge is designed so that it will not touch the actual wood of your guitar and so that water from the sponge should not drip into the guitar (just make sure the sponge is not too wet). If there is a downside, it is that you will likely have to re-wet the sponge every couple of days or so, but I believe the other guitar humidifiers require this level of maintenance as well.

Play an acoustic guitar? Get one of these

By Ray Lawrence Jr.

from Machessney Park, IL

OK kids this is a must have item and lets put it his way. Without some form of humidification you can take a good guitar and turn it into a very expensive piece of fire wood in a very short time, especially if you live in Arizona. It is VERY dry there and a humidifier is a must there. This is the best insurance you can have. It goes true for other places. all you do with this thing is take the cover off and turn on the cold water from your sink and soak the sponge, put the cover back on and do the old paint brush wrist snap thing like when you want to get the water out of a pain brush. the idea is not to have a bunch of water soaking the inside of your guitar. You wan to humidify it, not give your guitar a bath. The other option is to have a gauge to check humidity and there is an upgraded package the you can get that comes with one. But if you are low on cash this is a must have item and here is a trick you can do if you don't have a gauge to measure humidity. It's called a smart phone and you can pull up the humidity information for what location where you may be or check the weather. The main thing is get one of these for an acoustic guitar it will save your axe big time. i use this same humidifier on the road and it has been with the same guitar for almost 3 years and no problems.

Be aware that it stretches G-D strings

By Yuni Lee

from CAMBRIDGE, MA

I applied it to my Little Martin, but it stretched G-D strings too much. I also find out that many users complained for this. I'm worried that it would harm the strings, the bridge, and balance in the neck in the long term, so I just placed in the case.

sponge and sponge holder

By JESSE LUNDY

from Philadelphia, PA

I should have known that for the price I wasn't getting anything top of the line. Essentially this is a small sponge in a plastic "sponge holder" that doesn't fit in the hole of my guitar.

Humidity, a bain or blessing?

By Samuel Fleming

from Dubuque, IA

I bought this little humidifier two years ago for my Walden D550E. It does its job very well. I am currently a student in College and the dorms that I am living in are very old. During the winter they easily dip below 10% humidity so it is VERY important that I keep my guitar humidified. Ever since I bought this humidified I have not had any trouble. Just moisten the sponge and install it in between the D and G strings and leave the guitar in its case. If you are extra concerned you might get a second humidity pack of some sort to place somewhere around the headstock. Either way, this system works very well. I am thoroughly impressed with the function of the device.

Nice and simple

By Melissa

from Winchester, VA

This is a nice and simple humidifier. I use it for my Martin, and it keeps my guitar in nice shape. The humidifier itself is easy to use and does what its intended to do, no frills, no bells and whistles. If you want to care for your instrument, this is a nice humidifier to have. It gets the job done, and is easy on your pocket. I highly recommend this humidifier.

Simple and effective!

By Aleks G

from NJ

It's really all you need to keep your guitar at the right humidity level. I don't think there's any reason to spend more than you have to for something that does a pretty simple job. It fits nicely between the strings and does not move at all! It's really all you need for a pretty low price. I recommend this for anyone who wants to keep their guitar safe!
