I have a Takamine G-Series Bass. The stock strings that came on the bass were terrible. They were very dull sounding. The minute I put the D'Addario strings on it, the sound was amazing! Very bright tone. Also has very good quality and are also very reliable. I've had these strings on the bass for about a month and no problems.
When I first strung these on my bass, I noticed a huge difference. Bright and clear highs and deep lows. I was very impressed. The reason I am disappointed, though, is because I bought these specifically because of their especially long life. Within a month, my G string snapped in standard tuning. I don't even play that hard with my right hand. I was surprised that this happened. Don't get me wrong - these are great sounding strings, but for me, the quality is not worth the extra money. If you have the money and are willing to pay extra, go ahead.
