The D'Addario EXL140 strings are round-wound, nickel-plated electric guitar strings. Gauges 10-13-17-30-42-52
I dont know why I never used these in the first place. For he longest time I only used Earnie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottoms, but the problem I had with those is that they would break to easy and before you know it I was going through srtings like nuts. These strings feel great, and last a long time. Unlike Earnie Balls which have a much brighter tone these strings will make heavy riffs even darker...A definate must buy for any shredder that plays in the Extreme genres (death metal, grindcore ect.)

I have used several string brands from DR, Elixir, Earnie Ball, Dunlop, you name it and D'addario I choose. I like light top/heavy bottom so i chose the EXL140 and its wonderfull. First of all, they last longer than earnie ball skinny top heavy bottom which i used before and they always broke in two seconds on me. Second, these strings seem to LOOOVE drop C!!! I have them on all my guitars and these strings handle drop D and drop C sooo well. Also, unlike all the other string brands i named, D'addarios have a nice rich dark sound to them and amazing sustain. The best thing about these strings are the colored ball ends which makes string changing easy. Im telling you, D'addario/Planet waves accessories is the way to go in strings and guitar

This was my first set of light top/heavy bottom strings; though I have used D'Addario strings for many years. The bottom end strings seem to add a little "evil" to the heaviest riffs, while the light tops are still bendable and bright. Overall best strings I've used.

i have used the following strings for a couple months. Ernie Ball Elixer Dr and D'addario. And these are the best strings ok they are really slick give you a nice thick metal sound and love drop d c and b. These are also really cheap if you want the best strings at good price this is the way to go.
