I bought my Takamine acoustic 12 string back in 1985. And I've probably had every kind of string made on it. The guitar has a very rich tone with some excellent bottom end. So I've always looked for strings that emphasized the bottom and enriched the natural tone of the guitar. Bingo. The D'Addario EJ38 Phosphor Bronze lights do the trick. Whether in an open tuning or not, these strings sing. My Takamine will always get strung with the EJ38.
I've had my 12 string for 4 years now and have tried Martin Darco's, Elixir Nano's and D'Addario EXP's, but I have to say that these D'Addario Phos Brnz Lights are the best. They really project and make my Takamine EG523SC12, sing so sweetly. I play it out about once a week and I've had them on for about 4 months now and still sound great. I have a gig in a couple of weeks and don't really need to change them. Pretty nice!
Purchased these strings after reading every review on this site. I had used D'Addario strings with my Alverez 12 string and Martin 6 string for over 40 years but had not purchased strings for quite a few years. I am not disappointed in the sound quality in the least. They are now packaged in a sealed plastic package to keep the strings factory fresh. The strings resonate excellent and they do not seem to break very easily. I use different tunings often. I am back to playing regularly now and love the great sound of these EJ38's.
