Great Tone and a Smart Company

I rely heavily on these strings. On my guitar (a martin dreadnaught) they produce beautiful sparkle and puncy bass, the two most highly sought characteristics in bluegrass lead playing. If you want something a little louder or with less sustain, go for the mediums. If you want it to last longer, go for D'Addario's coated strings. Also something to note is that D'Addario is an environmentaly friendly company. Their packaging is recyclable through a program they have called "Players Points," which lets you trade in bundles of string packaging for D'Addario merch, sorta like a proof-of-purchase program. If that's something you think is important or appeals to you, you might consider D'Addario for that reason as well.

guild guitar fingerpicker

The phosphor bronze light gage string is a winner. There are other strings that ring as bright as these but... they are more costly. After 20 years of playing mostly fingerstyle(not aggresive flat pick)stuff I strongly recommend these strings. They sound great and they last much longer than other string sets I have tried.

My Favourite Acoustic Strings

These are my favourite steel acoustic strings. I know there are some better ones, but these work very well and at this price I can afford to change them regularly. I only use these nowadays, having tried several other makes (one gave me what seemed like spinters whenever the strings were new). As a teacher I see a lot of players and have never had a problem using these - no unexpected breaks, easy on the fingers and not too tight and dfficult to play for beginners.

THE BEST

If you like your electric guitar strings action, then use these strings on your acoustic! They are light in gauge, but sound good on my Seagull S6. After I run through these 10 sets, I'll switch to the mediums, I need a little more durability because I strum hard.
