Lightweight, comfortable, and noise-cancelling.

The CM-311A is the latest version of the Crowns proprietary Differoid technology. Differoid stands for differential cardioid. Its cardioid pickup pattern rejects sounds from the rear, such as floor monitors. Its noise-canceling ability also rejects sounds at a distance, such as instruments on stage and crowd noise. This results in the CROWN CM-311 having outstanding gain-before-feedback and isolation. Controlled field tests showed that the Differoid provides up to 12 dB more gain before feedback than conventional cardioid microphones. Many users of the Differoid say that their house mix is better because the mic's isolation is nearly complete.

Designed for touring and live-sound applications, the Crown CM-311A is a rugged head-worn microphone with unequalled performance. It sounds like the best handheld microphones full, clear, and distortion-free, even with the loudest singers. Lightweight and comfortable, the mics headband and boom adjust to fit any singer. An included pop filter greatly reduces breath noise and pops. Because of the booms unique behind-the-ear design, it does not cover up the singers face.

I've gone thru several Headset Mics, with the Crown 311/AE being the LAST. I've had people tell me that I look like an Airline Pilot and such, until the y heard my Mic. Now I don't use ANYTHING if I can't use my Crown. I have used my Crown CM311 for MANY different Styles of Music in almost every kind of venue around the World. Form Vegas, to Chicago, NY to LA (Where I live now...) Rock, Jazz, Hip Hop, RnB, Blues, Country. You name it, THIS headset can handle it. It's also Light and Sturdy. And Feedback is Non-Existant. I've been close to Side Fills, and in House in the Crowd right next to the House Speakers. I have had this thing INCHES from the Monitors in several arenas... NOTHING!!! And, my Voice is always pristine and Clear. (Sometimes I don't know if that's Good or Bad... lol!) Makes it very easy to Mix into the House System. I have the Older model from 1996 (with Twin earpieces). So I'm looking forward to getting an upgrade to the New SINGLE EARPIECE Model as shown here. For those of you looking for a FANTASTIC Headset unit, PLEASE look no further than THIS ONE!!! (I use mine with the Shure Systems Plug. You can get different plugs depending on what Make you go with for a Transmitter/Receiver... So, whatever Make you go with, be sure that you get the plug that matches the unit!!! If you get a Sennheiser Wireless, make sure you order the Crown with the Sennheiser Plugs, etc...) You WON'T be disappointed. One of the BEST INVESTMENTS I'VE EVER MADE!!!

  • Only headset we've ever used and been happy with

As reviewed by Gordon Wallace on 7/30/2011

The Crown headsets set the industry standard 15 or so years ago. We've been using them for about a dozen years and have been very happy with the sound and endurance. They remain on the large side, by todays standards , and are a little loose fitting despite being bendable to conform to your head. But the sound quality is worth it. A thank you and shout out to Christian, the salesperson that took my order over the phone from the Guitar Center in Falls Church, VA. He was very helpful, getting me the best possible price while making sure I was getting exactly what I wanted as quick as I could get it shipped to me. Thanks Christian...

  • BEST....HEADSET....EVER! The Crown 311 Rocks!

As reviewed by RHEA CASSERINO on 3/13/2012

I've been a drummer(that also sings)for 30+ years...a few years ago, during a reunion rehearsal, a bandmate (a singing guitarist) offered to sell me a headset that he had bought while in another band. He said he didn't like it, and the price was right ($100), so I bought it. I had previously used a SHURE headset, but wasn't impressed with the inferiority and had reverted to a wired 58 for better sound. What a find! The Crown 311A is hands-down the BEST headset I have ever used!!! No more craning my neck to sing while playing my floor toms! No more hitting my mouth or teeth on my 58 & boom stand when I'm into a tune, and I no longer need to accommodate a mic stand on my riser - BONUS! It sounds just as good as my wired mic and I barely know I'm wearing it. I can bang my head while I play and it stays in place! I can stand up and interact with the crowd, as well as go out and still do my backup vocals while a guest drummer sits in! I recently purchased my first BRAND NEW CM311 (after I accidentally stepped on the original @ a gig). The Crown 311 is as awesome as it gets for headsets! Great price, great performance...just excellent all-around - a must for singing drummers!
