It was a rough process, considering the nearest GC is 45 minutes from my house. But, I spoke with the employees and they suggested a better quality bow that they had in stock. So I purchased the bow suggested. Although, there were no violin specialists available at the GC. So my mother brought the equipment to a professional instructor/performer she knows. The professional tuned and adjusted to perfection. She told us the second bow we purchased was indeed the better choice. The violin and case was a fine choice. So if you are prepared to buy rosin and/or a new bow. I would recommend this deal.
I received my first delivery of this product. The package came with rosin that was not authentic. After purchasing new, real rosin, I see that the hair of the bow was coming undone from the end piece. I exchanged said package for a NEW one. I received a bow in the same, if not worse condition. I think this is the distributors fault. But, my mother and I are hoping we do not get screwed over again. Maybe she will be able to enjoy a violin once more.
Just a little background on me, I have been a violinists for six years, but took a two year break. I was renting my violin for that time. I recently decided to make a violin part of my life again, so I decided it was time to buy. I've had it about a month, so I've had time to notice everything about it. I must say I'm pleased with it. The case is fantastic, the bow is nice, throw away the rosin it comes with and buy something nice (that's a given), but you're reading to find out about the violin. It personally fits me just right, and the finish is lovely. Be warned the bridge may be crooked when you get it, but just carefully push it back into place, no bog deal. After a day it was acclimated and the pegs have never slipped (if you have a problem with them a bottle of peg drops is an easy cheap fix). It holds a tune nicely. The strings aren't the best, but that's to be expected. For what a fantastic deal this is, replacing the strings nothing at all. Overall, I definitely recommend this for a student of hobbyist. It's a wonderful deal, and the instrument is great.
