Everything you need to play the violin.

All Cremona Premier Student Violins are designed to meet the specific needs of beginning and advancing students. They are handsome instruments that have a rich and satisying sound, play well, and are built to withstand the rigors a student instrument sometimes has to endure. The new and improved Cremona SV-175 is no exception. This is the full-sized version of the SV-175.

It features solid carved maple and spruce, and meets or exceeds all Music Educators National Conference approved specifications. Each instrument has been upgraded to include a beautiful new translucent warm brown finish which lets the grain show through. It is skillfully crafted to be just as pleasing to the eye as it is to the ear.

To complete this outfit, it includes the new Travelite TL-33 oblong violin case with built-in hygrometer, and an exceptional LB-13 J. La Salle octagonal Brazilwood bow with ebony frog and genuine unbleached horsehair.

  • Good for learning on.

As reviewed by Mary Lafland on 10/25/2013

I received this today. It was a lot lighter than I expected (my father's violin is like a brick compared to this). For someone just learning, I think this is advantageous (if the more professional models are heavier, at least a student can become accustomed to playing before weight). The color is really beautiful. The picture here does not do it justice. The bow looks wonderful. There are two strands that, upon arrival, were broken off near the frog, but no others have snapped. It was a half-step out of tune when it arrived, due (I would assume) from being jostled in shipping. This was my first time tuning something other than a woodwind, so I had some newbie trouble at first, but once it was in tune it stayed there (granted I only played for an hour). The sound is really quite nice. The stand is sturdy. I've used this style of stand before and I've never had a problem with them. The tuner is nicely calibrated (I checked before using it with the violin). My only complaint is that the included book is, to me, a little condescending (ex., 'wait quietly for your teacher to tune your instrument'), but I think, aside from that sort of thins, it would be quite useful for someone who does not know how to read sheet music at all. It also has some good tips to train one in how to properly hold the instrument and to work up stamina in your bow arm and wrist, and some good musical exercises to help ones form while playing.
