Had problems with this amp since day one. Bad volume pot, then cutting in and out and then it occasionally works OK. This was my second Crate and both had problems out of the box. Stay clear of this one.
Nice build quality with ready access to all control knobs for both channels. Due to the weight (62 lbs) I would suggest investing in a set of caster wheels. The "clean" tone is warm and inviting excellent for jazz, blues or early rock. I have a digitech work station I plug into the cabinet and the amp does an excellent amplifying effects and modeling other amplifiers. The product has the sound and quality of a fender, Marshall or similiar amplifier costing 50% more. Therefore, this is a must buy for a class A/B tube amplifier.
My band and I went out to the guitar center to compare this and the Fender deville 212 and we came to the conclusion that the fender has the best clean channel but the Palomino has all of the BALLS on the distortion channel period! It's clean channel is warm and bluesy, in our opinion this tube amp is well priced and very loud. At 50 watts we took over the store around 3-4 notches on the volume control. This is a must buy. You can rate this with marshall amps due to it's distortion sound and feel.
