I have a Fender FM212R (100 watt) amp but I live in an apartment and needed something a little "toned down" and with a headphone jack. I have always loved the Crate sound in bigger amps but never imagined I would get the sound I get from this baby. It has a warm, almost "tube-like" sound in a 15 watt size. Amazing quality sound in clean and distortion and works well with my Digitech RP80 guitar modeling processor. I am even considering running a cable from my 2nd output on the processor to this amp and putting a mic on it to run through the PA. For $70, it is great for any level of guitar player!

I bought this amp thinking that I was getting a good deal. But the way the amp sounds and all of the fuzzy noise you get, it really was more of a waste of money. The overdrive channel has the worst distortion I have ever heard. The only thing I like is that it can go pretty loud but thats about it. Don't waste your money, spend a little more for a Line 6.

average bass amp

By bassist101

from Colorado

Comments about Crate GTD15 Guitar Amplifier:

This amp is a great buy for its price, but for another $80-120 you can get a bass amp that will last longer, will have more features, and will have better sound quality. If you have a bass and no amp and a tight budget you should get it, but if you can save for a couple weeks, get a better amp.

as good as they always were

By btcp

Comments about Crate GTD15 Guitar Amplifier:

i needed something that could give me any sound i wanted. clean, crunchy, classic, you name it. i was glad to find the gtd15 because its quality vs cost is beyond belief. i loved the crates of the '80s and wanted to have that again. this crate gives me big amp sound in a size i can take anywhere. i get all i want in this amp, and have enough $$$ left to start looking for a new guitar too. no regrets.

Awesome practice amp!

By javanek

from Oklahoma City, OK

Comments about Crate GTD15 Guitar Amplifier:

Every so once in awhile you run across a product that gives you everything you need without sacrificing quality. I just picked up this amp as I needed something small and portable. I had tried one of the micro amps and, frankly, it sounded awful. While I wasn't looking to replicate everything from my full-up system, I wanted something that could deliver more than just passable sound to practice with when not at the house. The store had just gotten the GTD15 in a couple of days before and they had just put them out on the floor. I really love how my full size amp sounds and was hoping to get the same performance. I was not disappointed at all! This little amp rocks! Good clean sound plus the Crate distortion that I know and love. The gain knob takes it from barely there to death-by-distortion with everything in between. Unlike the micro amps the speaker can deliver all of that sound without sounding like a cheap set of computer speakers. The other feature I love is the 1/8" mini jacks for both headphones (Hey manufacturers! Most headphones don't have 1/4" plugs anymore!) and for a CD/MP3/Just anything else input. Makes playing along much easier as everything comes out of the amp. Even better, if you need to be quiet, plug in the headphones and both your guitar and sound input device of choice come cleanly and clearly through. Genius! In a nutshell, I love this amp. I've had other small amps over the years and always found them giving up something for being small. Definitely not the case here. Crate has delivered on their product with the GTD15. Plus you can't be the price for about $70. If you need portable I highly recommend this amp. Don't mess with the micros unless sound quality doesn't matter to you.

Best combo amp for the price

By LesPaulman

from Carrollton, TX

Comments about Crate GTD15 Guitar Amplifier:

I was looking for a budget practice and my decision came downn to the Marshall 10w and this Crate 15w. The price was the same at Guitar Center but everyone I talked to recommended the Crate and I could tell why. The Crate gives better quality sound and had more power. Definentely recommende this amp although it lacks some sound effects and features.

Fantastic Practice Amp

By HeardOfCows

from Manchester CT

Comments about Crate GTD15 Guitar Amplifier:

I bought this amp as a practice and I am very pleased. The clean channel gives great tone for the price but the overdrive is where it shines. It doesn't crackle and doesn't have the constant high pitch whine. It also pumps out fairly good volume for its size. Overall, this is a great practice/portable amp good for any situation at an unbelieveable Crate price.

Beginner Crate review

By pairofdivers

from Birmingham, AL

Comments about Crate GTD15 Guitar Amplifier:

I have been practicing with my late-brother's guitar for the last few months, since his death, but I quit because I just couldn't produce the sound I needed to tell if I was progressing. I bought this Crate amp, and I not only notice a HUGE difference in my playing, but I can't put the guitar down now. Everyday after work, I'm practicing for hours at a time. Unfortunately, I'm not well-versed in the various brands; however, this amp has exactly what I needed for some good distortion levels and clear sounds.

great little amp!!

By Dimeslime319

from Burnsville, MN

Comments about Crate GTD15 Guitar Amplifier:

typical crate stuff here, 15 watts into an 8 inch speaker, clean and overdrive channels. clean sounds pretty clean and the distortion channel ROCKS!!! distortion doesn't crackle or sound as if its too much for the amp. price was right for a practice amp $69.99. if stolen I'd probably buy another!
