I have been using this amp for about 3 months now and it blows people away with the clarity and volume! I take it to small gigs in my friends basement and I can overpower the drummer and the bass! I love the versatility too, nice clean sound and then vein popping distortion one button press away! Crate did this one right!!

This amp is my fourth type of amp. I've owned Marshall's, B-52, Crate, and Fender. This Crate is my favorite for heavy rock and metal, has outstanding overdrive, as well as high gain. So if you are primarily about heavy music and that kind of genre of music, this amp is for you. However, the clean channel, oh the clean. The clean is not very nice, not very clear nor crystal-like, in a matter of speaking. By FAR out of any type of amp, if you want a crystal clean sounding amp, buy a Fender. Much better than any brand when it refers to their clean. If you want a rocker, this is the amp for you. Also, the effects (Delay, Chorus, Etc.) are fantastic. However, the Reverb, well let's just say i was disappointed. I don't like it, again, get the fender. But overall, this a 7/10 amp overall, but for HARD rock or metal, this amp is a killer.

Try it before, like any other amp...

By Laura Ramirez

from Hermosillo, Mexico

I tried this amp on my local store because i was looking for a backup, i was looking for an affordable option (my store had it at a really good price.) I had crate before, a small one, and also a V18 (btw, that amp sounds horrible out of the box, if you mod it, it can sound really really goooood) I tried with a G&L Stratocaster, stock pickups, no pedals, i noticed a small noise, not a big one, i turned up the clean volume channel, it sounded good, ok, bands response were good, i turned it 12 o clock and it was loud enough for rehearsal, small venue gig, you will need to turn it up a little bit more for a med v gig. Then i switch to the Overdrive? channel, it was crunchy, like the older crates, typical crate distortion, i played a little bit with the knobs, i couldn't find a setting that would sound good to me, kind of dissapointing, i felt that i went back 8 years ago when i used to play with these type of amps, then i move on to the distortion channel and it was bad...i couldn't find ANY setting that would sound even ok... Overall, i think you can use this amp with pedals, but not with the OD channels.. I was expecting a different amp from crate like the V series. For the price, well it's alright, but for the sound, better save the money for something else. Currently i have a MA100H with a MG412 (not the best marshall in the market but it's all tube! and it can sound really really good) and an Ampeg VT60 (this beauty rocks.. sounds incredible) with a generic cabinet loaded with celestions. Maybe i got used to Tube amps! So overall, try it before buying it... like any other amp!

Great Amp

By Christopher Campbell

from Saint Louis Park, MN

Just bought this amp. I love it! Especially for an at home practice amp. Just the right size to get sounds and effects of a much larger amp such as a half stack or full stack. I wouldn't recommend this amp for gigs or for band practice but it's perfect for at home and it produces great sounds. I play mostly metal, death metal, and black metal and this amp achieves most of the sounds I am looking for. Don't get me wrong, with only 2- 12" speakers, this amp can really pump out the sound. Great for the price as well!

Great price, Great sound, Good amp!!!

By Elliot

from Laramie, WY

I've owned this amplifier for a little over a year, and it can handle just about any style you're playing! The clean channel is crystal clear. The overdrive channel, however, gives out a not-quite full sound. It's a great channel for Jimi Hendrix/other classic rock tone though, while the high gain channel can be adjusted for metal or Led Zeppelin, or really anything. The High Gain channel has MAJOR distortion, though the notes aren't quite as defined as I would like. But that can be helped with some tweaking of the knobs- it just takes some patience! A little goes a long way with each knob, so there are a lot of possibilities. At any rate, this amp comes with casters to roll it around- they're really useful! Now for the one major downside- I had this amp for a month or two and a buzzing began- I checked my chords and equipment and even plugged it in outside, yet the buzz persisted. It stopped after a month or so, but came back recently, and the effects stopped working on the clean channel! Crate had me bring it to a drop-off point two hours away in Denver, and will either fix it, or send me a new one- we'll see. The warranty covered everything, and their customer support was about average- not too much hassle. I'd definitely recommend this amp if you're short on cash, like me, and need a versatile amp with lots of settings that will be heard over the drummer! If you're playing loud though, watch out for feedback- when you're in a cramped room, it's hard to avoid. If you have the extra hundred laying around, go with the half stack version- you can carry the cabinet separately without worry of jostling the electronics in the head. But yeah, I'd probably buy it again- watch out for electrical problems though. My uncle bought one and the tuner makes his buzz when it tries tuning. 4 stars overall- not the holy grail, but definitely worth the money!!!

Catching The Wave!!!!!!

By G-Master

from Virginia

I am a very serious Gospel/Jazz musician that looks for very smooth sound and quality in guitar amps, I've own a Peavey twin chorus, a Marshall with 2-12', And my studio baby My Roland 120 Jazz chorus. And I must say that Those amps are extremely heavy toting around, But I just purchased this Flexwave FW-120 and Its sounds Incredible, very smooth, lite weight and has a built in tuner on it that keeps me from having to pull out the Boss tuner so much. And The Price is very smooth......... So Catch It Baby!

ROCK!!!!!!!!!

By Blitz Stormer

from Albany,ny

SO I bought this 2-12 crate combo amp. It does exactly everything I need it to do and more. I play in a band covering anything from the Alman brothers to Rage Against the Machine. Being able to bounce through the three different channels is awsome. Super clear clean channel, A great crunchy channel and when I hit a solo where I want alittle more sustain I punch the overdrive channel. You can set your tones for pretty much whatever you want. Setting the effects can be a little tricky at first with the pedal until you figure it out. So figure it out lol!! This amp is frickin loud. gets over the drummer without breaking a sweat. everyone tells me to turn down. This is a great piece of equipment for the rock revolution and the price is great too...............BLITZ

its good for the money

By Sergio Flores

from Pueblo,CO

I was a little discouraged to buy it but it was a good price and its really not that bad at all. the disortion is pretty good i just hooked up my tube overdrive and it soundes fine.the clean is real good to.it sounds kind of glassy and real clear. I had no problems with the effects at all like some others people have said. But if your on a low budget it real good for the price.

GOOD AMP

By dudetaylorscool

from in a freakin house

I've had this amp since Christmas, and it's been pretty good. It's not the BEST, but it's one of 'em. I love the clean channel most definitely, but the hard parts to get used to are distortion. The overdrive is good for more rythm and kinda classic rock soundin stuff. The high gain is weird. Well, at least to me. When you have it turned up, you can't even tell what you're playing. It's drouned out by all the gain in it. I use a Digitech Heavy Metal Distortion pedal though, so it sounds awesome with that. I'd suggest the Crate FlexWave Series FW120 120W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp for anyone who is on a budget or likes classic rock, or if they have no room for a half stack. I'm stickin to this amp, cause it's still one of my favorites.

AMAZING

By Lueksta

from Arizona

I had a marshall, and i wasnt lovin it becaues not only was it expencive, but it wasn't the amount of wattage i wanted. However, this...is. This is louder then 120 watss im not even kidding. You can overpower an acoustic drumset at like knob 3 i mean, the wattage is unbeleiveable. Sound is sick. you can even get a pretty metal-filled riff. amazing amp. amazing.
