Excellent little guy

By Steven Hom

from Gaithersburg, MD

Picked up a used one at GC and am totally pleased given the cost. Needed something small but loud enough for my Taylor NS24e, which doesn't sound great through many amps. Compared the Crate to its bigger brother, the CA30, and other acoustic amps: Roland AC60, Marshall AS50, and Kustom Sienna 30. To my ear, the CA15 sounded the best - deeper bass, less harshness, plenty loud (for some reason, louder than the CA30 and smoother - go figure). Has enough inputs for what I do (perform with a singer), but a SM58 mic needs an impedance transformer to get loud enough, no big deal. No feedback notch filter, so you can get some bad feedback on certain notes if you're trying to play loudly, but for the price, I can deal with it. For a big gig, I'll use a PA with 31 band equalizer, but for small events (maybe 25-80 folks), I can get away with the CA15 if lugging equipment is a consideration. Haven't had the amp long enough to know about reliability, but as a used piece it checked out fine.

Can't be beat for the price

By NYmusician

from NY, NY

This amp is fantastic if you are on a budget: Built-in Reverb, solid sound quality and - it actually has bass! Pros: Great sound, good quality, two channels, built-in reverb and low mid high control, sepearte gains Cons: a little too big and heavy for a small amp, though still portable, no mic input

Crate CA15 Cimarron Acoustic Combo

By Ralph from the Bronx.

from Bronx ,N.Y.

Great Amp for the price!I'm working in a acoustic duo and the 15 amps are plenty loud. My partner has the same amp and with the use of the RCA inputs we can add vocals via a small mixer and any number of rythum/drum machines etc.If your external rythum machines don't have RCA outs no problem just use the first of the two channels with a 1/4" guitar cable and your good to go!

Awsome Crisp, Clear Sound

By TaylorMan01

from Orlando, FL

The Crate CA15 is an amzing acoustic amp. I would expect an amp that sounds this good would be well over what I payed for at Guitar Center. I play in a small band and never have to worry about not hearing my acoustic guitar when mixed with all the other intruments. I love this amp and play it every day!

Nice Acoustic Amp

By guitar juice

from Albuquerque, NM

Crate puts out some good amps. This was the lowest price acoustic I found that made my acoustic electric sound great. Wheater at home practicing or playing in church it sounds great. In church it performs as well and I can up the volume to only 2.5 and it is as loud as the electrics hooked up to Fender Deluxe amps. The reverb isn't that good but in our 700 seat auditorium (church) I really don't need the reverb. This little amp is great and it has all the power I need.

crate acoustic amp

By goog2

from South Glens Falls, N.Y.

While this unit is obviously not the top of the line, it does fill the much needed void of entry level, high quality, excellent price point, acoustic amp. The sound quality is surprisingly crisp and provides plenty of low end for the electric/acoustic guitars. It would have been nice to have an independant input for a microphone, but that feature is on the next level up in the crate line. Needless to say, besides reverb, there are no other options to control sound, but then again, how much are you going to alter an acoustic sound anyway? For the money you cannot beat this unit with a stick. Besides with two channels you can always buy an adapter for your microphone and input into the second channel.

WOW!

By Jpedos89

from Summit, NJ

Got this amp along as a gift with a guitar and this amp did not only amplify my acoustic's sound, IT MADE IT BETTER! I am not too familiar with the knobs on an amp to fix the sound, but experimenting, certain settings made my guitar one heck of a guitar. All thanks to this amp. I definitely recommend it, to any beginner or intermidiate who is looking for a good amp, at a nice price. Had to sell it to get an amp that works with an electric guitar that I later got. Other than that, AWESOME PRODUCT!

Best Bang for your Buck!

By DMBTaylormade

from Manassas, VA

I recently purchased the Crate CA15 Cimarron Acoutstic Amplifier to be used with a Taylor 110E. The CA15 has also proven to be be excellent when hooked up to a Fender Stratocaster. This Amp has very little, if any static feedback at all when in idle state. The 8" woofer powered by 30 whatts of sound delivers unbelievably true, silky toned sound that is perfect for a garage or small venue. Equipped with an excellent reverb effect and a 3-band equalizer, this amp will compete with any of the high dollar amps and wont burn out your pockets. Crate CA15, truly the best bang for your buck.

Great starter acoustic amp.

By BaldeRod

from San Antonio TX

I purchased this little amp after test driving it at the new San Antonio location. I was impressed. For the price tag, it sounded great. 12 watts is lounder than one may think. Doing solo, acoustic coffehouse type gigs this one's for you. It's not over powering and it has two inputs where you can hook up a mic with a 1/4 inch input and it sounds quite decent. I played an Ibanez AE seried acoustic through it and fell in love. I rarely play it past a 5 on the volume and it is awesome. Backporch jammin is even better with a couple of acoustics plugged in through this baby. I wanted a little power for living room songwritting sessions and to tell you the truth, that extra volume inspired some good tunes. I'm happy with it. It's light and portable and packs quite a punch. If you want an acoustic for small venues or just good ol' home jam sessions this one is for you.
