A practice amp with fantastic tone.

The Crate FlexWave FW15R is a two-channel guitar combo amplifier with reverb that gives you crystal cleans and rugged distortion tones, thanks to Crate's FlexWave Evolution 5 preamp with patented Sequential Cascading Gain technology.

The Crate FW15R's closed back cabinet produces optimal 15-watt output for the 12" speaker. Stereo input allows playing along with your favorite songs, while a headphone jack allows practice at any hour. • Pratice makes perfect

As reviewed by Typod on 1/11/2010

I got this little guy to give me a way to practice in peace, and it does just that. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a practice amp because it's just that... a practice amp. All in all, this is actually a great little amplifier! I would recommend it to people just starting out, or someone on a budget who wants something worth their hard-earned bucks. Final word... Buy this amp, it's better than ANY in it's price range!

  • Good Practice Amp for Acoustic-Electrics

As reviewed by Al on 1/10/2011

Usually amplifiers in the low end of the price range do not do justice to acoustic-electric guitars' piezo pickup, giving the guitar a muddy sound and defeating the purpose of the piezo altogether. The Crate FW15R is different. Run "Clean", with the Overdrive and Reverb off, the true acoustic sound of the acoustic-electric guitar comes through in all its glory, allowing the piezo to function as it was intended. Kicking in the overdrive gives an acoustic-electric the sound of a solid body electric guitar for songs or instrumentals where that sound is preferred. I don't use picks and prefer the softer, more intimate sound that finger picking and strumming with bare fingers gives, like fingers brushing softly across the cheek, and the undertones that whisper into the listener's ear. That intimacy is lost with most amps, but with the FW15R it is preserved. So at least for piezo acoustic-electric guitars, the Crate FW15R is well worth the price. Incidentally, the FW15R replaced Crate's older GX-15R amplifier.

  • No way... Do not waste your money.

As reviewed by Kenneth on 4/7/2008

ok, Let me start off by saying that the appeal of a practice amp with a 12 inch speaker is appealing, but that's where it ends. Junk junk junk. Horrible sound from both channels. The gain side isn't even worth using at all. Both channels are absolutely muddy. I have outputted the amo to another cabinet, and it made that cabinet sound bad as well. IT IS NOT A CLOSED BACK, it is open. THe description said sealed, but it isnt. WOw, this thing is terrible.
