This little amp has never let me down.

I've owned the CA30DG for the past three years, and I've taken it everywhere. The sound reproduction is absolutely amazing, especially in smaller venues (I don't even have to mic the amp - if you position it just right and aim it at the audience, you can hear it over drums). For larger venues, I would go with a larger amp, but a Crate amp nonetheless. Also, the 2 inputs also allow you to plug into the other output, which comes in handy whether you are practicing or messing around with friends, as well as providing vocal amplification if there isn't a PA for you to use. This amp is amazing if you are into solo-acoustic performances ranging from open mics to intimate acoustic sets at small local venues. Each time I've brought my crate on stage, there's always someone who comes up to me afterwards and asks me: "What kind of amp do you use? It sounds great!" The only drawback of this amp would have to be the green tolex covering. It's beautiful and I love it, but over the years it's begun to show a little wear and tear, but it also serves as proof that I'll never leave for a show without it. I've had this amp for what feels like forever, but I can't see myself playing through anything else.

Great little amp

I was in the market for a light duty acoustic amp for my wedding business. I play classical guitar for wedding ceremonies and sometimes need a little boost for larger venues, so I researched a bit online and found the Crate Taos to be in my price range and well reviewed. I'm one of those people who need to hear things for themselves, so I headed down to the local Guitar Center (really!) to try one out personally. I played a number of different amps, and settled on this one. The sound at lower volumes is quite good, nearly transparent with my Takemine CP-132SC. It blended quite convincingly with the guitar's acoustic sound, without the typical 'electrified' sound I associate with acoustic amps. For the price, nothing else came close. The amp is very nice to look at, too. However, at higher volumes, the sound quality goes down considerably. I used it in a jazz combo situation and found it to be lacking in that capacity. But for my main application, augmenting my acoustic sound, I find it well worth the money. Hope this is helpful.

New To The Game

I Bought this amp three weeks ago, Played out live with it the following week, I've heard bigger and more expensive amps sound not even close to this. Best buy I've made in quite awhile. Love this amp

Makes Playing Live Easy

I use this crate amp to play live. The equalizing features and reverb make it easy to produce a nice sound live. Works for my fiddle perfectly. It can project over a room full of people, yet light weight.

Great Practice Amp

This 30 watt acoustic combo has all the power you can expect from a decent 30 watt amp, plus a ton of extra features. This works great for practices, and is enough (although barely) to keep up with drums. The effects that come wit it are very nice, especially the delay, chorus, and hall effects. In terms of quality, it sounds consistantly nice, but I have gotten an annoying buzz from it on occassion. There is a pretty good equalizer included too, but it is not sensative enough to make a dramatic difference. There are also 2 Line In jacks, which is nice, because you can plaug two instruments in at once to ensure that both the volume levels of both instruments are equal. It is a little bit heavy to carry around, but this is a small price to pay for the outstanding quality and tone.
