Comments about Cortex DMIX-600 with Case:
I bought this product after being interested in the specification (works with ipod etc.), but still reading reviews that it had a crash problem. I decided to risk it as it ticked a lot of boxes and I was of the opinion that, as with all technology, sometimes you just get a bad one. Well guess what... it crashes all the time. Meaning, usually after about 15 minutes play, it just freezes and cannot be restarted without switching it off and on again (about a 30 second to 1 minute process to get back to where you were in a set again). I've tried using different usb devices and I follow the manual exactly. By the way, it's a mission to use if you get most of your music via itunes. It won't play MP4s. You have to buy software that will turn your mp4s to mp3s and then you have to configure them to play on the system using their own software and then you have to reconfigure your ipod to play them. It's a real royal pain. It won't work with iphones either. I reconfigured my ipd, and then after a few uses that froze, never to return (I suspect it was due to the reconfiguration as it turned my ipod into a crude usb device) so I had to switch to a usb stick. The unit also froze at random using the usb stick (in either port), meaning it's worse than useless for performance and frustrating as hell at home. Big shame, as otherwise this would be a decent machine. The hardware is really well built on the outside. But here is the worst part. I've emailed Cortex five or six times at their customer service 'contact us' email address, and no response. The las couple of times, I was begging for someone to respond to my emails. Absolutely nothing. I run a PR company and have several tech. clients (including a major headphones brand) and I've never known bad service like this. That's why I'm writing this review really; company that simply doesn't bother responding to two months worth of attempts to get advice on how to fix an issue (I wasn't asking for a refund, just a solution), doesn't deserve me, or you, as a customer. I've given up trying to contact them. Please, please take my advice and strike Cortex off your list of brands that you might ever consider buying. Something not working is bad enough but you can factor it in from time to time, but blatantly ignoring customer complaints is quite another.
