Comments about Cordoba Protege C1 Classical Guitar:

After years (50) of thinking about it I finally decided to learn classical guitar. I bought this guitar as an inexpensive entry level instrument. I was familiar with the C1 through a friend and I felt the guitar would meet my need as a first classical guitar. So far that has worked out. The guitar is well made and looks good. It is made from good materials and has a great finish making it look like it cost much more than it did. But most important I was able to set it up for some finger comfort during the learning phase. This was accomplished with a slight change to the neck relief (truss rod), lowering the bridge saddle a 1/32 and putting on lighter strings (light tension). I am happy with the action after those minor changes. After two weeks of practice every day I am still very satisfied. I think the guitar sounded better with the original strings and I'll go back to those (normal tension) after my fingers toughen up.

Smaller guitar that packs a punch

Comments about Cordoba Protege C1 Classical Guitar:

I must start by saying that I usually do not order instruments online. So I was very concerned about doing this because this product was not in the stores. When it first arrived I was very disappointed as the size did not appear to be full size (even though it measures to be about 40 inch). It appeared smaller than I expected somehow. I was ready to put it right back in the box and head to the store until my girl convinced me to give it a try before just returning it. Once I played it, I loved the sound; the sound leaps off the frets and of course she loved listening to me play. It sounds much better than my other guitar and I am very pleased with my purchase. Don't judge based on size.

Excellent instrument for the price

Comments about Cordoba Protege C1 Classical Guitar:

I have 10 of these guitars for my high school classical guitar class, and they are great! Each are very consistent, no problems with any of the mechanisms, and the factory strings sound just fine and last a long time. It comes with a gig bag that is just right for hauling around to gigs, or just back and forth from home for practicing. Tuners are smooth, the nut is the right size for a variety of strings, and the bridge is set to a moderate level for most playing styles. To me, the best feature is that the top is surprisingly resonant for an instrument at this price point. The fingerboard also feels good. The only downside is that fret finishing leaves something to be desired on the extreme edges, but what can you really expect for a beginner's guitar? This is the best guitar I've played that you can get on a limited budget, for consistency if nothing else. They work great for solo and ensemble playing, and they are quite durable. My more careless students have destroyed lesser quality instruments without really trying, but these can take the hits from less cautious hands and still sound great. If your budget is tight, I would strongly recommend giving this guitar a try!
