The GK Studio Negra is the ultimate gigging instrument. Built with a solid European spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides, this nylon string guitar comes equipped with a soft cutaway and Fishman Presys Blend pickup. The GK Studio Negra is a flamenco guitar made for the stage, constructed with a slightly thinner body depth, neck, and nut width than a traditional Spanish guitar. The neck is designed to have little or no relief, offering low action for ease of comfort and quick playability.

For flamenco players, this model offers a bassier and more robust tone in contrast to the bright, snappy sound of ˜blanca™ flamenco guitars, but any guitarist looking for a new tone to add to the repertoire will feel right at home with the GK Studio Negra. With its comfortable body shape and classic tonewood combination, this model is the perfect choice for exploring the nuances in sound that can only be captured with nylon strings.

Like every Cordoba guitar, this model also has a two-way truss rod built into the neck. Other features include a rosewood fingerboard and bridge, high gloss finish, clear golpeadores (tap plates), and premium Savarez Cristal Corum strings. The GK Studio Negra includes Cordoba' deluxe gig bag.

I received my GK Studio Negra late June after a much anticipated wait, but finally it has arrived at Guitar Center. I purchased mine from guitar center and the guitar experts at GC worked so hard in collaboration with Cordoba to get this model to me before it was available online. Ive owned this guitar for less than 4 weeks and have to say is superb to hold. Dont let the Spanish Flamenco Body Depth fool you, it is light, comfortable, thinner body but boast a deep, rich, full sound that you wouldn't expect to come from its size. Don't get me wrong, compared to a dreadnought acoustic guitar it holds very little ground, but by itself or amplified with the amazing fishman electronics it possess just outdoes itself. At first I was really gentle with it but after a week or so just got into it and this guitar can take a licking (no pun intended). It is very durable so far but im not afraid to play it at its full potential with the lifetime warranty (with a purchase of a HumiCase) from cordoba, which extents Guitar Centers warranty as well from i believe 3 years to 10 years from pretty much anything. Right out of the box the guitar looked immaculate, but after further inspection there were some little issues. The pick guard had a stain on it probably when installing it, thinking it was on the guitar i was able to lift the guard up and it was on the guard not the guitar. Cordoba has then sent me a free replacement which GC will install for me. The action was great and low but as all guitars could use a set up with an expert. The tuning keys are beautiful black with gold, the only part was some of the gold leafing was missing upon very close inspection and was nothing but cosmetic. Some of the individual keys were a little tight but can be adjusted. You really cant go wrong with a Cordoba, affordability with beauty and function. Not to mention, great customer service. Every email i sent them was replied quickly and professionally, also to get a guitar before it was listed on sale is just phenomenal. Thanks.

I bought the Cordoba Fusion 12 off the rack at GC. Didn't notice the insane rattling until I got home. Thought new Savarez strings might do the trick to remove the buzz, but it didn't. Took it to a luthier who showed me that the bracing inside the guitar was terribly loose. He strummed, pushed down on the body, and the buzzing stopped. Returned it at GC where the salesmen strongly recommended the GK model. The second I strummed it I could hear the same buzzing. I called one of the salesmen over to have a listen and he could not deny how horrible the vibration was. Could it be that both these Cordobas were just thrashed from being over-used floor models? Possibly... Other reviewers seem to like this model, but they seem to have all ordered them online. I will offer this piece of advise - be cautious with Cordobas. The models I bought/played rattled like no other. The luthier said that even without the rattling, the construction alone is not worth 700.00.

Loving the sound

By ARTURO

Comments about Cordoba GK Studio Negra Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Flamenco Guitar:

I went to different Guitar Centers and tried out about 30 different guitars on different days and this guitar gave me the sound I was looking for. It has a pretty warm and yet solid sound. I play flamenco and classical music and it's perfect for my solo performances. Plugging in the guitar into an amp makes it sound good too. I like this product. The guitar is pretty light weighted and it comes with a "golpeador" for tapping the flamenco techniques. I think this guitar sounds way better than other way pricier guitars. The only thing I think it can be improved on it's the soft case, I'm a bit skeptic of these, I prefer hard case. Other than that I'm very happy with it and my fans love the sound too.

Comments about Cordoba GK Studio Negra Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Flamenco Guitar:

I picked up my Cordoba GK Studio Negra from Guitar Center two days ago. The sound and playing action are excellent, and the Fishman electronics are the best. I've had the sister with cypress body for 2 years, and I love it. The Negra has a rosewood body, and so a different (warmer) tone. It's great have both! Highly recommended, best buy!

Comments about Cordoba GK Studio Negra Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Flamenco Guitar:

I received my GK Studio Negra this week It is an outstanding flamenco guitar. I had been searching and reading all the reviews Going to Cordoba's site, Marcelo Berestevoy was playing this It was beautiful, So I made up my mind an ordered! What a great sounding and playing guitar. easy to play Rich tones, Bass tones are deep and rich. I am very happy with my choice. The Cordoba guitar company are great people. with customers service that they can be proud of. comes with a soft case, I will probably invest in a nice hard case with humi control. Would not hesitate to recommend this great guitar! Dennis Sigala ps, this is my second posting since I did not see the first review I posted.

Worth Every Cent!

By Edgardo Santiago

from Atlanta, GA

Comments about Cordoba GK Studio Negra Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Flamenco Guitar:

I went in to the Guitar Center to buy a new guitar, and when presented with all the options at the store it became very difficult to decide. To pick just one guitar that works best overall for one's own style, with great sound quality, plus great craftsmanship. Needless to say I had a tough job at hand. When most active players choose a guitar like this you often know exactly the style it's being used for, but there are many more options about this guitar that were a must for me. The Guitar's head stock has an intricate gold and black design that holds the tuners and adds a class touch. The back is made of Rosewood unlike the regular GK studio which is Cyprus. Playing live is one thing, but what about when you need something for the studio? I compared to other classical guitars in the store the sound was definitely warmer and richer for recording in the studio. That's where the guitar lives now is in the studio :) Yes, it costs more that the standard GK, but in my book it's well worth every cent. Thank you Cordoba!

La Negra

Comments about Cordoba GK Studio Negra Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Flamenco Guitar:

I had this guitar for about a month now. It has great features, but in addition, it sounds superb. I really felt in love the moment I saw it. However, when you start playing it, is when you really fall in love with its beautiful melody. This is definitely a great guitar! Also, Cordoba will extent your three year warranty to a lifetime limited warranty, if you purchase a HumiCase within seven days of your guitar purchase.

Great basic flamenco guitar

By Arnold Fellman

from West Bloomfield, Michigan

Comments about Cordoba GK Studio Negra Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Flamenco Guitar:

About 3 weeks ago, I purchased the GK Studio Flamenco along with a Fishman 60 Watt Loudbox Mini Pro, after being allowed to play with both at The Guitar Center acoustic studio. This was intended as a second flamenco, as I own a very nice Spanish hand made ABF flamenco, which street prices for 7 x what I paid for the Cordoba. I am quite blown away by the apparent quality and the ease of playing of the GK. I am also quite thrilled with the amplification with the Fishman electronics, both in the guitar and the Mini Pro. The 50 mm wide and relatively thin neck on the GK are perfect for my small hands. The tonal qualities are quite good and reasonably well balanced, especially with the Savarez Hi Tension strings that come standard. I wish Guitar Center had had the next level up GK Pro to compare with, but at twice the price as this, I'm not sure that the wood and electronics differential would have made that much difference. I am enjoying this bit of "electric" quality, and though not traditional, it's a heck of a lot of fun and rewarding, and I can hit the strings more gently without losing the punch I want. In fact I gain a unique level of emotional feel of the sound when amplified this way instead of bare or using an external mic. I would definitely recommend this guitar, the Fishman amp, and the ease of doing business with Guitar Center.

Great Overall Guitar - Not Just Flamenco!

By Gregory Hathaway

from Santa Monica, CA

Comments about Cordoba GK Studio Negra Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Flamenco Guitar:

I picked up this guitar a few days ago, and am completely in love with it! I play many different styles including classical, flamenco, jazz/bossa nova and blues, and I find that this guitar is perfectly well suited to all styles. The playability of the instrument is incredible - the thin neck and low action mean that I can play much longer with a lot less hand/wrist pain, and with a lot less "scrabbling around" on the neck. And I love the sound, both acoustic and electronic. Acoustically, each note has good definition with nice crispness in the tenor range and deep bass (the reason I bought the Negra). The Fishman preamp is excellent with plenty of adjustability to fine tune the sound for any style. I also find the construction and finish nearly flawless. For a fairly high-level amateur player (if I don't mind saying so myself! :-)) this guitar is perfect. Not being a true flamenco player, I'm probably not qualified to make a recommendation based solely on that style of playing, although I can't imagine why it wouldn't be great for that too. But as an all-around nylon string guitar, I recommend it very highly and think it's worth every penny! gh

Comments about Cordoba GK Studio Negra Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Flamenco Guitar:

This guitar is well worth the money . It's simply the best guitar I've ever owned . Can't think of anything else I'd want from a guitar. You can buy more expensive ones but this guitar sounds and plays as good as the more expensive ones . I highly recommend this guitar . The GK Studio model is lighter and crisper sounding where the Negra is a little deeper and bassier, a fuller sound. Both are as good as the other , depends on what sound you like.
