The GK Studio Negra is the ultimate gigging instrument. Built with a solid European spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides, this nylon string guitar comes equipped with a soft cutaway and Fishman Presys Blend pickup. The GK Studio Negra is a flamenco guitar made for the stage, constructed with a slightly thinner body depth, neck, and nut width than a traditional Spanish guitar. The neck is designed to have little or no relief, offering low action for ease of comfort and quick playability.

For flamenco players, this model offers a bassier and more robust tone in contrast to the bright, snappy sound of ˜blanca™ flamenco guitars, but any guitarist looking for a new tone to add to the repertoire will feel right at home with the GK Studio Negra. With its comfortable body shape and classic tonewood combination, this model is the perfect choice for exploring the nuances in sound that can only be captured with nylon strings.

Like every Cordoba guitar, this model also has a two-way truss rod built into the neck. Other features include a rosewood fingerboard and bridge, high gloss finish, clear golpeadores (tap plates), and premium Savarez Cristal Corum strings. The GK Studio Negra includes Cordoba' deluxe gig bag.

I saw this guitar at our local music store and started playing it. Before I knew it I kept playing for about 45 minutes. I fell in love with it and didn't want to bring it back to its cradle. It was too bad and didn't have enough money to pick it up when it was being sold for its original price. Then came Christmas sale with Musician's Friend, I could not resist that they had it on sale.
Unfortunately, it didn't get shipped out on time for the holiday so I received it on 01/10/14.

I brought it to our rehearsal and my band mates at my church heard it the first time. I was told that I should use it for the actual play. I used it the first time at church being plugged-in on the mixer via direct box. Voila, it sounded even better when it is plugged in. I got a lot of compliments after we got done playing.

I like the fact that it is very light compare to my Taylor 814CE. It is very quiet, and love the electronics of it, thanks to Fishman. It has a built in tuner and some controls on volume, base, mid, high tone, and the notch for controlling feed back.

I guess the only negative thing I could say is that Cordoba should have installed a strap button on the heel of the guitar neck. This is important when playing the guitar standing up with a guitar strap.

To sum it up, I would give this guitar a 5 star still. To me an acoustic guitar as first and foremost is about the fat warm tone and its playability. Also the design and craftsmanship is decent. I think this guitar is great for acoustic players who are looking for a decent sound whether it is played unplugged or plugged in, and relatively affordable without spending more than a thousand.

I bought the Cordoba Fusion 12 off the rack at GC. Didn't notice the insane rattling until I got home. Thought new Savarez strings might do the trick to remove the buzz, but it didn't. Took it to a luthier who showed me that the bracing inside the guitar was terribly loose. He strummed, pushed down on the body, and the buzzing stopped. Returned it at GC where the salesmen strongly recommended the GK model. The second I strummed it I could hear the same buzzing. I called one of the salesmen over to have a listen and he could not deny how horrible the vibration was. Could it be that both these Cordobas were just thrashed from being over-used floor models? Possibly... Other reviewers seem to like this model, but they seem to have all ordered them online. I will offer this piece of advise - be cautious with Cordobas. The models I bought/played rattled like no other. The luthier said that even without the rattling, the construction alone is not worth 700.00.

Simply awesome

Comments about Cordoba GK Studio Negra Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Flamenco Guitar:

This guitar is well worth the money . It's simply the best guitar I've ever owned . Can't think of anything else I'd want from a guitar. You can buy more expensive ones but this guitar sounds and plays as good as the more expensive ones . I highly recommend this guitar . The GK Studio model is lighter and crisper sounding where the Negra is a little deeper and bassier, a fuller sound. Both are as good as the other , depends on what sound you like.

Comments about Cordoba GK Studio Negra Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Flamenco Guitar:

I've been playing guitar for 50 plus years and I own many top tier guitars.....Paul Reed Smith, Gibson Les Pauls, Parker Flys, Fender Strats, Taylor acoustics but I must admit........after a little adjustments to the neck and bridge.....I must say that it's hard to set this guitar down. I've already done some recording with this instrument in my studio it sounds phenomenal !!! You did a good one here Cordoba !!!

Comments about Cordoba GK Studio Negra Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Flamenco Guitar:

I bought this beautiful flamenco negra guitar as an open box item for a substantial discount. As such, I expected flaws and hoped that they would be tolerable. Instead I received an immaculate instrument without any visible imperfection. It appeared to have not even been played before. As I removed the string wrapping I immediately saw the reason; the strings were about 1/4"(6mm) above the twlelfth fret all the way across the fretboard. It looked like an "uncut" saddle-blank had been dropped into the bridge slot without first being cut/angled to set the correct string height across the fretboard. (It was). After a couple of hours work shaping the bone saddle blank I got the string height down to 3.5mm at the low E and 2.75mm at the hi E (12th fret). The strings are now 8mm above the soundboard (top) at the bridge. That's actually at the high end for a flamenco guitar so I may lower them further once I've become more proficient in the style of playing. All strings fret clear and sustain without a trace of buzz (all the way up the neck) at those heights. The intonation is perfect on all strings (except G of course).
The neck was setup with only barely perceptable relief (<0.25mm)or, 'almost flat'.
BTW, luthier work like saddle shaping is not recommended for novices. There is a piezo pickup transduced under the saddle which you can damage if you don't know what you're doing, etc.
Other reviewers have described the quality and sound of this instrument so I won't repeat their descriptions and praise. The bass is particularly impressive.
I will offer an observation about the sound that you hear being produced when you try/play any nylon stringed guitar: It is 90% dependant on you. I just watched a Susan Isbin video (& others) where it is shown how dramatically the fingernail angle of attack and shape affect the nylon stringed guitar's sound. The point? Only if you truly know how to play a flamenco guitar like this will you ever know what this guitar can sound like. Even your fingernail shape will affect the sound from this nylon string guitar dramatically.
Since I am a beginner (at flamenco) I can only hear this guitar truly sing when I get my fingernail just perfectly upon the string. At those times I can assure you that this guitar sounds amazing. Now I just need some more fingernails.
PS Since I expect all new guitars to need a setup by a luthier (or such) I didn't downgrade from 5 stars just because the saddle needed setup.

    Loving the sound

Comments about Cordoba GK Studio Negra Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Flamenco Guitar:

I went to different Guitar Centers and tried out about 30 different guitars on different days and this guitar gave me the sound I was looking for. It has a pretty warm and yet solid sound. I play flamenco and classical music and it's perfect for my solo performances. Plugging in the guitar into an amp makes it sound good too. I like this product. The guitar is pretty light weighted and it comes with a "golpeador" for tapping the flamenco techniques. I think this guitar sounds way better than other way pricier guitars. The only thing I think it can be improved on it's the soft case, I'm a bit skeptic of these, I prefer hard case. Other than that I'm very happy with it and my fans love the sound too.

    Excellent guitar

Comments about Cordoba GK Studio Negra Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Flamenco Guitar:

After playing a friend's Cordoba, I knew I had to have one. This guitar exceeded my expectations in it's playability, onboard tuner, and sound. This will be my 'go to' guitar from now on. The price was exceptional as it was 'blemished' I could find only one tiny button scratch on the back & the fingerboard bore no marks of having been played. I need to get used to the nylong strings, they are not broken in yet & are still tuned down a step from normal- Hey, that's what capo's are for
