My Favorite Guitar of the Past several Years

By LAWRENCE

from Tamarac, FL

I have bought 5 guitars and sold 4 to Guitar Center in the past year, including a Fender Custom Shop Koa Acoustic/Electric, a 2001 Taylor K-14 Koa, and a GK Studio Negra to test the waters for a nylon string guitar. They were all excellent, but the Fender and the Taylor were not comfortable to play (with big hands, and starting over after 20+ years of not playing), and I never developed the callouses and finger strength to enjoy playing enough to even approach the potential of those beautiful Koa Guitars. Having previously owned a 1980s Goodall KGSC and a 1960s Gibson J-160E, I had, in my college days, really spoiled myself for an expectation of my daily playing experience. The GK Studio Negra was an incredible instrument, and I fell in love with classical guitars! I realized I really wanted the GK Pro Negra, but test-drove the Studio to see if I wanted to own that as my only guitar. So I traded up for the GK Pro within the incredible 30-day satisfaction guarantee period, and now have my GK Pro Negra with the Humicase! I am so happy with this guitar I have been playing over 30-60 minutes a day, vs. the 10-15 minutes I would play my steel string guitars. As an added bonus, I have been learning some percussion techniques to accompany myself on this guitar, and am really finding my "voice" again, and am getting some creativity and exploring new and original melodies and riffs again, and loving my time with this therapeutic healing device in my life! Music is now an integral part of my daily life again, and I am expanding my repertoire and loving the songs I can play now at will, which is very fulfilling.

When I heard it I fell in love again

By John

from Niles, Illinois

For me to grow up playing Speed Metal, only to fall in love with a nylon string classical was highly improbable. The electronics are amazing; but as a stand alone acoustic it's got the punch and crunch I love, the deepest breath to her bass EVER,, and the high notes sustain with minimal tremelo effort and sound like tasting of the finest wine for having robust balance with a finishing sustain that's intoxicating!!! The action is the fastest I've ever seen or played, set to 9 millionths of an inch,, action of the strings at the twelfth fret is LOWER than the thickness of my guitar pick!!! The craftsmanship doesn't even feel like wood construction. She feels like one solid piece of wood, cast into porcelain,, or encased in glass... The solid tonewoods all vibrate so intensely; when you hold her tight into your body the vibration feels like a speaker cabinet vibration transmitting directly into your heart!!! Stringed instruments have the most passion of all musical instruments, and the Cordoba GK Pro Negra is the most intimate of all guitars I've ever played over 35 years!!! What can I say But I've fallen in love again!!! Check it out: http://youtu.be/XxGC8gLLdqA

Best nylon string guitar ever made.

By Krisztina Ilosfalvy

from San Francisco, California

I found videos for all the different guitar makers on You Tube. I watched and listened to all the best nylon string guitars before I made my choice on what to buy. The solid European spruce top and solid Rosewood back and sides make all the difference in the tone of this guitar. It out played everyone else's guitars hands down. Not even Taylor or Martin & Co. could touch the tone from the Cordoba Gypsy King Pro Negra. It has a crystal clear bottom end that I've never heard in any other guitar. The top end is just so bright and beautiful with mids that make this the most well rounded guitar I've ever heard in my life. I am the daughter of the Hungarian opera singer Robert Ilosfalvy and I started playing guitar at the age of 14. With that in mind...It's pretty safe to say that I've heard some of the nicest nylon string guitars in the world. This is the best guitar I've ever heard in my life and I love it like a child. If you can afford this guitar it will never let you down in any setting.
