Overview

Slightly larger than the Requinto 580, the Cadete is a 3/4 size guitar (615mm scale length). It has the traditional Spanish 7 fan bracing, a solid Cedar top and mahogany back and sides. Additional features include a hand inlaid wooden rosette, gold tuning machines with pearl buttons and a rosewood fingerboard. An adjustable truss rod is built into the neck. This is a great guitar for anyone looking for a lightweight, comfortable, and easy playing instrument.

The Cordoba Cadete comes strung with high tension Savarez guitar strings, which are meant to be used in standard E tuning only. For a guitar that is designed to withstand higher pitched tunings, consider Cordoba's C1 1/4, C1 1/2, or Requinto 580.

I wish I could rate this with decimal points...if I could I'd rate it at 4.5. I think a lot of people blow off "student" guitars due to the label. As we move through life, we are tempted to label things; this is a bad practice because it closes the mind to possibilities. I compose/arrange and record my own stuff, since I play multiple instruments. I have yet to find that darker-sounding guitar--spruce tops are too bright for my purposes--that projects well, until now. This guitar will be used to provide rhythmic comping for jazz-bossa compositions...I'm stoked! Yes, while not perfect, at this price I challenge you to find a guitar from such a highly-respected manufacturer, with virtually flawless construction and with such unexpectedly superior sound projection AND with a neck that's easy on smaller hands, like mine. As one would expect from Cordoba, the construction and finish were worthy of a top-of-the-line classical. Nothing fancy--I hate paying for cosmetics, kinda like dating a high-maintenance woman--but what they provide is of superior quality. Great gig bag, too!

Having a .188 neck this is a good classical guitar for people who mainly play steel string because the neck is similar in Width. the solid cedar top sounds nice although I was disappointed with the poor quality of wood, there were some unsightly brown streaks and The width of the grain varies a lot. I gave it a 3 because of the visual defects but it's a nice sounding guitar and probably the best narrow neck classical available commercially. I tried 2 antonio hermosas, both had bad necks wouldn't stay in tune 1 minute even after strings stretched a week. This guitar stays in tune very well.

I would buy this guitar again.

Comments about Cordoba Cadete 3/4 Size Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I like this guitar and would buy it again. It is easy and comfortable to play. I wanted a little smaller guitar, but not tiny. This fit the bill. I did experience some buzzing especially on strings 4-6 so I changed to a different brand of strings, (D'Addario Hard Tension) and it solved the problem for me. I would recommend it.

Comments about Cordoba Cadete 3/4 Size Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

Good little guitar. I changed strings right away to improve clarity in the trebles. Basses were tubby until I put on new strings and now much better. Still a few dead notes. First position is a little tight feeling, maybe a nut issue, but I have found that same issue in other Cordoba guitars at the higher end, C9 and C10. I also lowered the saddle very slightly and that has helped somewhat with the action. Finish around the bridge is a rough.
Guitar has lots of harmonics. More melodic than expected. Really can't go wrong for the price.

A surprising little guitar for adults

Comments about Cordoba Cadete 3/4 Size Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

Many adult classical players are opting for smaller scale instruments to extend their practice time and for hand comfort. Not all 3/4 guitars have the same scale measurement, so be sure and check. My regular guitar is 660mm scale, and some pieces are quite a stretch for me. I am hoping this little guitar will help me play comfortably into my old age. I found my Cordoba Cadete (barely) used and in pristine condition, so it was a great way to test smaller scale comfort without a big investment. The guitar has great tone and projects well, too. I am happy with it.

    Best Guitar I've Owned

    By Karl

    from Monroe

Comments about Cordoba Cadete 3/4 Size Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I've owned a Fender Strat, Mustang, Jaguar, Martin 6 and 12 strings with the spruce top and HPL back and sides and this Cordoba is by far the best. Mahogany back and sides for under $300? What?!? If you wanted the same wood in a Martin it would cost about $3000. The only problem is getting this to amplify well. It's a not really a student guitar, it's a professional sounding guitar for smaller people. But to play live you need to install a pick up system, because dynamic microphones cannot pick up any of the overtones of this guitar. So far I've installed the Kremona saddle one for $79, and it sounds decent with finger picking picking, but terrible for strumming. I'm going to install an LR Baggs Anthem system in that, and I'll review that later if you're interested to find out how it sounds, but judging from their sound samples it should sound great. Peace, Karl

Comments about Cordoba Cadete 3/4 Size Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

The sales pictures don't do this guitar justice, it's absolutely beautiful and the workmanship is perfect.

The voice is full and rich. I have a full size classical guitar that I bought for it's beautiful sound, and this guitar sounds just as good as that one.

When I got the guitar it had a dead "B" string, that just went "thunk" at the first fret. As soon as I replaced that string (it had a nick in it.) the guitar's true voice came out. So if you get one and it doesn't sound right, check the strings before you give up. I can't wait to see what this guitar sounds like after it opens up from playing.

I bought this guitar for my own use, as my full size classical guitar is just too big for me. The size of this guitar is perfect for me. "Just a note of caution here." There is no industry standard on fractional size guitars. If you need a smaller size guitar check the actual scale length of the one you are looking at before buying it. This guitars scale length measured twenty four and two tenth inches.

One last note, this guitar is very comfortable & easy to play. Did you ever sit an a chair and just say "ahhh?" Well this guitar feels like that.

    My Daughter Loves This Guitar

    By Claude Lehman

    from Burlington, VT

Comments about Cordoba Cadete 3/4 Size Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I bought this guitar for my daughter based on the advice of her teacher, a professional musician, who got his daughter one several years ago. The guitar sounds great and looks beautiful. It has a much richer sound than the 1/2 size Yamaha she's been playing for several years, although that guitar was very nice. She loves the sound and action of this instrumentI and will be even more motivated to practice and play every day. I would very much recommend this instrument.

Comments about Cordoba Cadete 3/4 Size Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

This has been a great guitar. I contacted Cordoba directly with concerns I had heard about bridge issues, which they responded was an extremely low number and was absolutly an isolated incedent. Also they responded that if that were to happen they would replace it under their warranty. So without hesitation I got it in the mail and it has been a fine little instrument. Tone is surprising, make is great-really good finish. Light weight, and easy to play. Great value.
