Unfortunately, some items at the online catalog have a lack of useful information or pictures, and as a costumer, one needs some more basis to decide if a particular instrument is the one you are looking for. Well, this is one of those items; but the truth is that this is a very special instrument: stuning look, great playability, perfect action and wonderful crispy sound. The cedar of the top is beautiful, and the rosewood of the back and sides makes a great combination with the warm sound of the cedar. I still have my hesitations about the laminate of the rosewood of the back and sides, but it looks as beautiful and resistant than any solid wood. Actually I own a Breedlove all solid wood construction, and I wuld`nt be able to tell the real diference. Time will tell. Apart from that, I think this is a wonderful instrument; I bought it online and I got a beautiful instrument with excellent protection and with a trendy and resistant gig bag. If you are interested in this guitar, dont hesitate, you̴ll have a nice surprise.

I returned the instrument after a couple of days. I have owned both Cordoba guitars and Fishman pickups and admired them both. The guitar sounded better unplugged than amplified. I didn't thing the Fishman Presy did it justice at all, maybe because Fishman caters primarily to steel string acoustic guitars.
Good quality in workmanship of the guitar; it is beautiful. The pickup installation was well done too.
Good value in this instrument. The pickup alone, if purchased independently would be over $300 acording to a repair technician I spoke with. I just didn't like the pickup in this instrument.

Great Value and Great Quality Guitar

By Frank the Tank

Comments about Cordoba C7-CE CD Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Classical Guitar:

This guitar has great old world classical guitar craftsmanship combined with modern conveniences like a cutaway and electronics with volume contol, bass, mids, treble, notch, mic blend, phase and a built in tuner that is very convenient to have, especially with a nylon string guitar to keep it in tune. The machine head tuners have a beautiful ornate design that I like as well. This guitar has good punch and volume to it even when not plugging it into an amplifier. I'm very happy with the Cordoba C7 CE Iberia series acoustic electric nylon string guitar and would recommend it to anyone.

Good sound but several sad mistakes in workmanship

By Scott H

from Vancouver, WA

Comments about Cordoba C7-CE CD Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I picked up this guitar along with another Cordoba, and the sound is excellent in the mid to upper range, low range is nice but a bit quiet for my taste..great when plugged in though. Looks amazing, except for the pearl fret markers are poorly lined up, especially on the 12th fret...don't know, could just be a one time fluke. The biggest problem is that it does not note out correctly, particularly noticeable on the low end. 5th fret sounds slightly flat when the guitar is perfectly in tune, and I can't find a balance where all the cords sound good. Once again this could be a one time botch-up, but it is a sign of extremely bad quality control imho. I could overlook cosmetic flaws if a guitar played well and in tune and sounded great, but I cannot overlook improper notation. That being said, I am sure Cordoba would warranty that defect, but I will simply be returning the guitar. Also, the action came extremely high, so plan on having it lowered if you buy this guitar. I found that half of the problem with the action is that the truss rod needed to be tightened, which hi lights a plus...it has a truss rod! But the action still needs to come down. I would lower it myself, but I am going to leave it as-is because I'm returning this guitar. If you find one that does note out right I would say it is a very good guitar for the beginner to intermediate player. The sound is amazing tone wise, and really helps maintain interest in playing. Also the electronics are awesome and sound great when plugged in.

Nice jazz box

Pros

  • Very nice acoustic sound

Cons

Comments about Cordoba C7-CE CD Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Classical Guitar:

The strings are actually the same spacing as Cordoba's standard classical (which I like), but the neck is slightly narrower which makes the jazz chords a little easier to manipulate.

      Great guitar for working musician

      By NM

      from Nevada

Comments about Cordoba C7-CE CD Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Classical Guitar:

This guitar is a great work horse. First of all, I use it every day for hours in my private studio, and its easy playability doesn't make my hand tired or injure it. The same goes for my solo guitar gigs: I can play for hours without fatigue. The electronics are fantastic, and I truly get a beautiful sound through the amplifier. This is not a strictly classical guitar. The acoustic properties and low action do not lend itself well to play pure classical guitar in a concert hall, but it is great for virtually anything else: solo gigs, teaching, pit orchestras, and so forth.

Comments about Cordoba C7-CE CD Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I was looking to upgrade my Washburn WA90CE guitar and was just browsing when I discovered the C7 at Guitar Center in LA Mesa and fell instantly in love with it. I got more than I paid for. Stunning look, great playability, perfect action, and wonderful sound. The cedar of the top is beautiful, and the rosewood of the back and sides makes a great combination with the deep sound of the cedar. I enjoy playing this guitar and looking forward to purchasing another in the near future. Great job Cordoba!

First guitar I got was defective (a blemish on surface, electronics worked improperly)

The second one is very good. The only reservation I have is that action was not too good out of the box.

Comments about Cordoba C7-CE CD Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I was in need of another nylon after I had damage to my Godin Nyon that I had traded. Being without a nylon string for several years and on a budget, I had heard great things about the Cordobas. I compared it to Ibanez and Yamaha (both manufactureres I adore by the way) and found the bottom end on the C5CET to be exceptional considering it is a thinner profile. The Fishman Isys system is idiot proof and the phase switch gives you a nice rich tone when activated. The only minor observation (not so much a con really) is the light weight of the guitar. It almost feels a bit off balance plus there are no strap buttons so keep that in mind if you plan to gig with it. I just sit on a stool. It records great, sounds great through a PA and even through my old Princeton Chorus amp. I put some new Savarez "wound" nylon strings on it and the high tension is nice but still getting used to them. My rep at Sam Ash threw them in to see if I would like them. Overall highly recommended.

Comments about Cordoba C7-CE CD Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I was surprised how quickly I received the guitar...4 days. I've never ordered a guitar via internet so I was a bit skeptical at what I might end up with, without playing it first. When I got it the temps were -5°F and I surmised that it had sat in a freezing truck for hours if not days during transit. I left the packaging alone to allow what was inside to get acclimated to the inside temps and the climate for 24 hours just to be safe. I have a guitar that had cracked on me many years ago due to climate change so I was cautious.

When I opened it up, everything looked as good as I expected. As I began to inspect it closely, I noticed the made in China sign on the inside of the sound hole. Had I known that, I probably would not have purchase it. I was hoping for a North American made guitar. As I began to play it, I was impressed by the quality of the tone. One of the reasons I purchased it was for the tone and to do some recording with it. So far it has done a marvelous job in doing so.

I did have to adjust the neck as it bowed in a bit too much and didn't have the feel I was looking for. But that was probably due to climate change. Now I do. I didn't care for the strings as they kept going out of tune constantly while playing. My other guitar had Savarez Red 520 R and decided to change them over. Now I can play the thing with out having to mess with the tuning constantly.

I've had the guitar now for about 2 weeks and look forward to playing it whenever I can even tho it's made in China.
