After spending a few hours comparing various makes of classical guitars, I choose the C7 (solid cedar top) simply because it had a warmer, richer tone than any of the other classical guitars in the store. It sounded warmer than all Ramirez guitars. Even the ones that cost double the money (and you still were getting laminate back and sides on the Ramirezs). The neck and fretboard are smooth. I have owned this gutar for a week and it inspires me to play everyday. All of the Iberia line of Cordoba guitars are made in China. This fact used to bother me, but when compared to other classicals in this price range (and twice as expensive), it blew them away. Customer support from Cordoba (based in California) is very good as they respond w/i 24 hours to all my questions via email. This is a relatively new company and they seem to have something to prove (and are doing so).

I am a classical guitar student in college. When I began looking for a guitar to take to college for my studies, this is the one that struck my eye. Such a warm tone, great response, and fantastic projection. It was really the only classical guitar stocked in my local GC, that was worth a wooden nickel. This guitar sounds way better than even the thousand dollar ramirez on the wall next to it. I bought it immediately. It served me well for the first semester of school. It is important to keep a guitar such as this moisture controlled (it could crack), so be sure to use a dampit over the winter if you live anywhere in North America. HOWEVER, this guitar let me down. Towards the end of my second semester, I noticed a rattle coming from the bridge. It was a string tail which had caught below the bridge. The bridge had actually begun to separate from the body of the guitar! I had a performance five days later, and when I opened up the case, the bridge had come off entirely. This is caused by the maker not heating the glue properly before attaching the bridge. I honestly thought such a beautiful instrument would have better quality control. I am currently seeking warranty. What a shame!

Looks and sounds like a LOT more money!

      By C. J. Camp

      Pros

      • great looks
      • great sound from the solid cedar soundboard
      • Very good workmanship

        Best Uses

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

The Cordoba Iberia Series Classical Guitars offer a LOT for the money: great materials, workmanship, action, beauty, and sound quality beyond what one might typically expect in this price range. (I have also owned and reviewed the C5-CE.) Personally, I much prefer the cedar top because I like the softer, more balanced tone it imparts. To be sure, there are better classical guitars but the models that are appreciably better are a also AT LEAST two-to-four times the price!
If you want a very good guitar but can't afford several thousand dollars, check this one out!

Couldn't be happier with new C7

          By Motoman4444

          from Eastern PA

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I wanted to resume playing after many years and wanted a quality guitar but somewhat in the mid range price category. Sound and feel was comparable or better to several other brands costing much more.

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

The one piece cedar top and exceptional craftsmanship produces a sound that cannot be touched at this price point. Excellent value and playability. I wish I'd purchased one sooner!

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

The sound just booms out of it! Crystal highs and smoky lows ring out like magic. This is a very well made guitar and a beautiful piece to hold. My only regret is I didn't take the plunge to purchase one years sooner.

          By Phil

from Paramus NJ Route 4 location

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

The Cordoba C7 is a fantastic guitar with a sound quality and appearance found in classical guitars in the $3,000 range. As an advance beginning classical guitarist, I expect this instrument to last many years. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone who is seriously studying classical guitar.

          Beautiful guitar, great tone

          By MARGARET

          from Johnstown, PA

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

This is a beautiful, well-made guitar with full, rich tone in the bass and mids and clear, ringing top end. The top is solid Canadian red cedar, back and sides are Indian rosewood (laminate). The bridge and binding are Indian rosewood. The rosewood on mine is nicely figured and looks like it should be on a more expensive guitar. The rosette is all natural inlaid wood mosaic, very attractive. Mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard. Bone nut and bridge saddle. 12 frets to the body, 19 total. Spanish fan bracing. The guitar comes with a gig bag but if you buy a Humicase instead and notify Cordoba, they will upgrade you to a limited lifetime warranty. Guitar Center had a sale price and reduced it further because of a few small dings. Great value for the money. Thank you Cordoba and Guitar Center!
