After spending a few hours comparing various makes of classical guitars, I choose the C7 (solid cedar top) simply because it had a warmer, richer tone than any of the other classical guitars in the store. It sounded warmer than all Ramirez guitars. Even the ones that cost double the money (and you still were getting laminate back and sides on the Ramirezs). The neck and fretboard are smooth. I have owned this gutar for a week and it inspires me to play everyday. All of the Iberia line of Cordoba guitars are made in China. This fact used to bother me, but when compared to other classicals in this price range (and twice as expensive), it blew them away. Customer support from Cordoba (based in California) is very good as they respond w/i 24 hours to all my questions via email. This is a relatively new company and they seem to have something to prove (and are doing so).

I am a classical guitar student in college. When I began looking for a guitar to take to college for my studies, this is the one that struck my eye. Such a warm tone, great response, and fantastic projection. It was really the only classical guitar stocked in my local GC, that was worth a wooden nickel. This guitar sounds way better than even the thousand dollar ramirez on the wall next to it. I bought it immediately. It served me well for the first semester of school. It is important to keep a guitar such as this moisture controlled (it could crack), so be sure to use a dampit over the winter if you live anywhere in North America. HOWEVER, this guitar let me down. Towards the end of my second semester, I noticed a rattle coming from the bridge. It was a string tail which had caught below the bridge. The bridge had actually begun to separate from the body of the guitar! I had a performance five days later, and when I opened up the case, the bridge had come off entirely. This is caused by the maker not heating the glue properly before attaching the bridge. I honestly thought such a beautiful instrument would have better quality control. I am currently seeking warranty. What a shame!

Beautiful guitar

By Mike

from Peabody, MA

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

This is a beautiful guitar. Not only is it beautiful to look at but the sound is so warm and clear, and projects very loudly with even minimal play. I went to the store and played with this and others for weeks and kept coming back to this one. It just sounded 50 times better than anything there including ones double the price (Ramirez's, Rodriguez' etc..). The neck and action are so comfortable you could play for hours without effort. The glue work is flawless inside, no globs aroun the wood seems. I love it. Best in its price range by far and even beyond its price range.

Wow!

By NYC

from New York, NY

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I already have a Ramirez cross-over but I was looking for a guitar with more traditional 'classical' specs - something I would worry about less than the Ramirez. This guitar articulated better than any other classical in the store up to $1200 or so. I couldn't believe this guitar wasn't priced higher. At first I was a little bugged that they make these in China but I used to have a Chinese-made Yamaha that was very nice so it doesn't necessarily bother me now that I've thought about it.

Great guitar

By Serg Gjivoje

from Bernradsville, New Jersey

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I agree with everything that first reviewer mentioned. I play this guitar every day since I bough it (few weeks ago) and it simply inspire me to play more. It is great value for money. The shape of the neck is absolutely fantastic, and moreover has that adjusting rod, so that I never have to worry that my neck will be bent. The guitar is very light in weight and the overall look is impressive. It is the best guitar of that price range ever from my experience.

Your Search is OVER!!!

By Michael Yolch

from Wellsburg, WV

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

Looking for that PERFECT classical? I was too! I spent nearly 3 months playing every classical I could find (about 40 of them) at several locations in prices ranging from $250 - $4,000. At the time, I had the budget to buy ANY of them. And then, I picked up the Cordoba C7 Cedar Top and was literally speechless. Upon initial inspection, I was struck by the exceptional build quality of the entire instrument from top to bottom-inside and out. Super-clean fit and finish. And then I began to play. The tone, projection and balance were flawless. The lows were big, warm and full without being too boomy or overbearing. The mids were very clearly defined without being harsh or brassy. The highs were soft and gentle yet crystal clear without being thin or glassy. The entire frequency spectrum sings in perfect harmony with itself. Each and every note was perfectly audible with none of them washing over the other. Lastly, the other item that really stood out was this: This guitar made absolutely NO OTHER SOUND than what I was playing on every string from the first to the last fret. Not so much as a tiny squeak, buzz or vibration. Nothing but perfect classical tone. My search is over and yours is too! You will NOT be disappointed; get a Cordoba C7 today!

Beautiful instrument

By DB

from Lee's Summit, MO

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

This guitar has a warm, rich tone. I attribute this to the quality of construction, the cedar top, and the rosewood back & sides. It has an acoustic presence far above the others that I played when deciding which guitar to buy. I think it has a good balance between a crisp upper end and a full lower end. It is a beautiful instrument.

Cordoba C7 - Nylon string guitar

By Jody Cruzan

from Allen, Texas

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

Tradition classical guitar. Good tone and value. Fit and finish is excellent. Pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the tuners. I believe they even have wood knobs. Real bone nut and saddle. Came with high quality strings. I have much more expensive guitars that don't have these features. Even has an adjustable truss rod. I'm going to keep my eye on this company. They should rise to the top with this commitment to quality and performance.

A Beautiful Guitar with a Rich Sound

By John Chamberlain

from Midlothian, VA

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I've been searching for a new classical guitar to replace the Gibson built Epiphone which I have owned for 30 years. Neck issues made me realize it was time to retire it. After trying out many new models, I settled on the Cordoba C7 with it's cedar top and rosewood back and sides just like my old one has. I think that the Cordoba C7 with it's rich, deep sound and beautiful well-constructed body is an excellent value for the price. The fact that it has a truss rod also influenced my decision to buy it.

Looks and sounds like a LOT more money!

Pros

  • great looks
  • great sound from the solid cedar soundboard
  • Very good workmanship

Cons

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

The Cordoba Iberia Series Classical Guitars offer a LOT for the money: great materials, workmanship, action, beauty, and sound quality beyond what one might typically expect in this price range. (I have also owned and reviewed the C5-CE.) Personally, I much prefer the cedar top because I like the softer, more balanced tone it imparts. To be sure, there are better classical guitars but the models that are appreciably better are a also AT LEAST two-to-four times the price!
If you want a very good guitar but can't afford several thousand dollars, check this one out!

      Great Buy

      By Tyler Van Luchene

      from Indianapolis, IN

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

This guitar has a very nice sound to it. Not only does it sound great, but it looks awesome too. I love the maple purfling on the sides and back and the rosewood pegs with the gold and black plates. Very classy in my opinion. The intonation is not perfect, but I can't really complain because this guitar is awesome.

      Beautiful sound...Action way too high!

      By Marti

      from San Francisco, CA

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

Ordered this guitar online after reading all the amazing reviews. Cedar top is beautiful despite being two different colors. Extremely light weight instrument. Very mellow sound. Only real issue was the action. Starting about the eighth fret the action felt too high. Neck was fine so using the truss bar would not help.Would need to adjust the saddle, and there wasn't enough room to sand it down enough! And if you want to be picky, the frets were very rough. Yes, it's possible to fix that, but on a guitar in this price range it was an unexpected disappointment. Returned to Guitar Center, thanks to their amazing return policy.

The Cordoba C7 is a fantastic guitar with a sound quality and appearance found in classical guitars in the $3,000 range. Excellent guitar

      By Brian

      from Portland, OR

Comments about Cordoba C7 CD/IN Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

After many years of playing classical music on a steel string guitar, I finally decided that it was time to buy a proper classical guitar. I shopped around at a number of different stores and played 15 to 20 guitars. When I played the C7 at Guitar Center, I almost immediately knew that I had found the one. The price was a few hundred dollars below what I was prepared to pay, and the instrument was simply beautiful. The cedar and rosewood are lovely. The projection and tone are excellent. It feels light and plays wonderfully. I have been playing nearly every day in the last month or so since I bought it. On the whole, I agree with nearly everything the other reviewers have said. The one thing I would add is that I have noticed a small amount of buzzing on the lower frets of a couple of the strings. I talked with the folks at Guitar Center about it, and essentially they said that this was something to get used to. Notwithstanding this minor complaint, I highly recommend this excellent guitar.

I played with this guitar for over a month before I bought it. The C7 was the best guitar in the acoustic room. The quality of this instrument is great and the price isn't bad either. I have an audition for a music school and this is the guitar i've chosen to help me in my music journey. You will not regret this guitar and will not be able to put it down.
