I've been eyeballing this guitar for about 1 1/2 years and finally just stopped screwing around and bought it. I used Guitar Center's phone line around Christmas and had it delivered to the house. Initially there was some buzz on the A string, then the G string, but the issue has resolved itself with no adjustments to the truss rod. I live in Michigan and I have to imagine the climate change and lack of humidity in December wreaked a bit of havoc on the wood. It plays beautifully now with no buzz whatsoever. The finish is superb with no flaws. The tuners work well, albeit a bit stiff yet. I may upgrade the strings in the near future. The cutaway is great and allows so much more playability. The electronics on-board are top notch and easy to use. It also has a built-in tuner - another plus. I am by no means an accomplished player, but I opened it up, tuned it and played a song or two on it and my wife said, "Wow, that sounds professional!" The action was great right out of the box, although after letting it settle to its surroundings first, I may look into lowering the action just a bit. I plugged it into my Peavey Vyper II and the guitar sounds just fantastic amplified. I haven't picked up my Telecaster or steel string since I bought it. The customer service on the phone was great. They promised 3-5 days for delivery when I ordered it on a Monday. It showed up by Wednesday night - another star if I could give one. I tried the Ibanez, Lucero, and the other classicals hanging on the wall at GC, but nothing sounded like this one. The cedar top gives such a full, warm sound that the others just don't compare to and at this price point, you just can't match it. You will not regret buying this guitar. It is by far the favorite in my collection!

Great Value, Great Sound

Comments about Cordoba C5-CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I did a comparison of this guitar against a Spanish-made classical guitar from a different manufacturer in roughly the same price range. Hands down, this guitar beat the pants off the Spanish guitar. The finish on this guitar is MUCH better looking. This guitar has the cutaway feature for the high notes, a radiused, narrower neck than the typical classical neck that suits my smaller hands and makes the transition from electric to classical FAR easier. Tuners were easy to adjust and, most importantly, stayed put once in tune. The tone on this guitar is SO much more pleasing -- crisp without being harsh and with PLENTY of bottom, mid and top-end in a nice balance. Plus, for less than $80 more you get the built-in tuner and excellent electronics. This is a quality product at an affordable price. Did I mention that the Spanish guitar wouldn't even stay in tune?

The new suburst model is a beauty!

By Dave

Comments about Cordoba C5-CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Sunburst! I've played so many classicals in GC, and the C5 has always been my favorite for its perfectly playable neck and action. The neck is just right - not too narrow, not too wide, and flat, just the way I like it. As other's have mentioned, it has wonderful sound - resonant bass and clear treble. I have a Del Vecchio which I hand picked at the factory in Brazil 35 years ago, and it has always had the most beautiful sound, but unfortunately only a fair neck and action. The C5 matches its sound across the whole range, but is so much more playable. The only reason I never bought a C5 was that the original color was simply too bland for my tastes. As soon as I saw the sunburst model, I ordered it. It came in yesterday, and all I can say is that it is stunning - the pictures do not do it justice. My only quibble is that it came with Savarez strings, rather than my preferred EJ45's, but even then it plays and sounds superb.
Bottom line - it's beautiful, plays wonderfully, and has superb sound, at a very reasonable price.

Spectacular instrument at a great price point

By DANIEL

from El Cajon, CA

Comments about Cordoba C5-CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

A little background, my primary acoustic guitars are both Gibsons (J-45 and SJ-200) -- both are incredible instruments and leave me with high standards for any future guitar acquisitions. That said, I was looking for a different timbre to add to my arsenal and a nylon string guitar was just the thing. I was a little wary of the laminate back and sides, although I knew the solid cedar top on this guitar would be great. I was pleasantly surprised both at the store and at home when I played this spectacular instrument at such a great price point. The C5-CE makes we want to play all day and gives me such a different sound than my steel strings Gibson flat tops, that I'm newly inspired in my playing. The sound is warm and even across the fret board and the balance between strings is superb. Another bonus is that is sounds equally wonderful plugged into my Fishman Loudbox Artist amplifier. I have no regrets whatsoever and would highly recommend this nylon string / classical guitar.

Great purchase for a great price!

By Isaiah Montalvo

Comments about Cordoba C5-CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar over two years ago and it is the best guitar decision i have made thus far. The cordoba c5-ce immediately became my favorite guitar to play. I own a schecter hellraiser solo-6 and a yamaha guitar that i got from a starter kit about five years ago, and the classical has been my favorite since the day i got it. The guitar also came with a guitar case that makes it easier to lug around. The guitar sounds both amazing when played electrically or acoustically. I have found that the "classical sound" dissipates when plugged into a monitor system, if you are not very good at balancing it may just be better to mike the guitar instead. The guitar sounds very crisp, with very deep bass and light, clear trebles and when playing classical pieces it just sounds beautiful. If you are looking into getting a cordoba c5 or c5-ce i was definately go with the ce, the price is not much more and for what you get its worth it. The cordoba has been the best guitar decision ive made. Definately a must have for anyone wanting to begin or currently studying classical music.

Third Cordoba - great for gigs and traveling

By Timothy Russell

from Charleston, SC

Comments about Cordoba C5-CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

In the past few months I have become a fan of the Cordoba line of instruments. My first Cordoba was a Cordoba Loriente Clarita CD/IN. I then purchased an Cordoba Espania Solista. These are wonderful guitars. The only problem for me is that these are not the guitars I want to take when I travel several times a year. Which brings me to the Cordoba C5 CE. The Cordoba C5 CE was an unexpected purchase. The guitar met several of the needs that I had for "another" guitar. It is a guitar with Cedar and Mahogany tonal woods which is a combination I did not have. It has a Fishman ISYS pickup system with a built in tuner. The action was perfect. While there are some flaws in the wood, that is not to be unexpected in a "lower priced" guitar. To compare the sounds from this guitar to the other more expensive Cordoba guitars that I have is really unfair; however, it is comfortable to play and the sound is great enough for me to enjoy playing the guitar when I do not feel comfortable bringing an expensive guitar out on the road that cost 6 times as much. The on board tuner is a nice touch. The truss system is really great especially since I usually can not control the environment that I play in. It is well built. The attack of the vibration of the strings is quick as I would expect with the tonal woods and it does not have the sustain of Indian Rosewood; however, it brings out the mid range and highs while still not neglecting the low notes. It is nice to have a guitar that sounds good that I may not baby as much. That is probably why I play it so much even at home. This guitar is always available. It is light but solid to hold. The action was great out of the box requiring no adjustment. (I was lucky here). It was inexpensive while still sounding wonderful. A little punchy, but still is a wonderful guitar to hold. It is a beautiful guitar. The cedar top has some pits in it that is to be expected. The Mahogany is beautiful. I am just as proud of this guitar. I dont fret as much when I a on travel, around children, or just because I feel a little care free this is an excellent choice of a guitar. I would recommend this as a gig classical guitar. I would recommend this to new students. I would recommend this to people that do not want to take their expensive guitars on the road. For an instructor this might just make a good guitar to teach with. Just my thoughts.

Great Product

By Patrick Mccuen

Comments about Cordoba C5-CE Classical Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I purchased this as a gift for myself after doing quite a bit of research. This is great guitar with great sound and finish. I purchased this at the Roseville, Michigan store and they were very helpful. This guitar plays very smoothly and I was happy with it right out of the box. The action is a little high but with the nylon strings it is not an issue. The sound is very clear and rings out nicely. All in all it is exactly what I wanted and exactly what I expected from the Cordoba brand.
