I owned one of these as my first >50 dollar classical and played it for several years before giving it away. I am about to buy another. The tone is very soft and warm and carries very well. You can coax a lot of volume from this model, although the tone can wash out a bit if you are playing very softly, but hey, it's not a 5000 dollar concert instrument either so... I don't believe it is possible to find a better guitar for this price range. I love the cedar top sound.

This guitar sounds fantastic, but the bridge keeps coming unglued. I have had two of these within 2 months do this. I keep it in a consistent 70 - 72 deg Fahrenheit with a relatively low humidity (probably 40%). I don't know if it was just a bad shipment or what, but I swear I haven't exposed it to any temperature swings or direct heat. Just store it in the gig bag it comes with. Guitarcenter has replaced it once no questions asked now I have to bring back the last replacement too. Their ProCoverage Warranty certainly has helped me feel better about this, but I just want to play. Anyone else experiencing this with one purchased late 2009 early 2010?

I Love This Guitar!

By Richard

from Orange County, CA

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I was looking for a good nylon string guitar for both Mariachi and classical styles, and after trying every guitar in my price range at every store within 20 miles, I settled on the Cordoba C-5. I picked the Cordoba because it had the nicest feel, low action, beautiful tone, and best appearance compared to anything I tried even at 2-3 times the price. After taking it home, I literally couldn't put it down; it's a joy to play. I've had it several days now and my first impressions were more than confirmed. The finish is beautiful, no flaws of any kind that I could see, the playability is great; the guitar feels perfect in my hands. And the sound is rich and clean; almost none of the "boominess" found in a lot of classical guitars in this price range. Overall I'd highly recommend the Cordoba C-5!

Choose this Guitar

By BK

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

This guitar is very good for anyone looking to play classical guitar. From a beginning guitarist to an experienced non-classical guitarist looking to start playing classical. The BEST guitar for the price. I feel that it plays beautifully despite that the strings are a bit far from the fret board. Some sand paper and glue will fix that. I'm very excited to play once the strings are lowered!!

Carefully inspect before buying

By John

from Austin, Texas

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

Having just spent considerable money to have the guitar setup, as it should have been from the factory, I would strongly recommend a through inspection before purchasing. My luthier stated plainly that my C5 was "basically unplayable" in the condition I received it in. Note that I removed the guitar from its factory packaging while in the store so it had not been monkeyed with before I bought it. The neck had too much bend, the action more than double the height it should have been, and numerous frets stood high compared to their neighbors. The only reason I had the work done instead of selling the instrument and buying something else was he said the workmanship was quite good and the materials above average for this price point.

Cordoba C5 is Quality

By Tod

from Berkeley, CA

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I recently purchased a C5 and have been learning classical technique. (I'm branching out from years of playing jazz on my Gibson steel string). The C5 is very easy to play - the action is as good as guitars costing MUCH more. The quality of the finish and tuners are top notch. But the real amazing thing about this guitar is the fullness of the bass strings. It has a very rich and full sound. It's a great guitar for the money!

My Favorite Guitar

By Eduardo

from Houston, Texas

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I bought this guitar recently after reading positive reviews. I went to the store and as soon as i put it in my hands and played, i knew i wanted it. The sound is so full and resonates very well. This instrument is quality made and for the price it is a MUST HAVE! From a beginner musician to an experienced professional, this is an awesome guitar. I purchased this instrument to play Mariachi music but also to practice finger style and classical arrangements.

Cordoba C5

By Norman

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

At this price the Cordoba is the best value for your money. The guitar has quality materials, excellent craftsmanship, and most of all a superior sound to all others in this price range. I can't understand why people complain about a high action. A classic guitar is designed and built this way to allow full sound at the sound hole. No less than 2.7mm high E and 3.0mm Low E at the 12th fret.Measurement is bottom of string to top of fret. You go any lower and projection and sustain declines. People that want super low actions should get acoustic or electric with steel strings. I am very happy with my Cordoba and shortly will be getting a flamenco model People must remember that the C5 has a truss rod which should be adjusted to get proper relief at the neck. Norman H. This Guitar is Great!!!

By Ryan Balestreri

from Bradenton FL

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I recently switched from steel string to Classical guitar and happen to come across the Cordoba C5. Once you pick this guitar up and play it, you will not want to put it down. This guitar is hands down the best qaulity, sound, and overall playbility for the price. I picked up quite a few guitars when on my search but always came back to this one.

Super Sound

By W T

from Frisco, TX

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I wanted to move to a Classical guitar and came across the Cordoba C5. This guitar demonstrates the great quality, sound, and overall playability for the price. I tried a few guitars in my search but always came back to C5. The finish is remarkable and appears to be a more expensive guitar. A well known guitarist told me this was a good choice!

Great value.

By Novice guitarist

from Iowa

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

Purchased used from Guitar Center website. It was delivered on time and well packaged. The condition was listed as "great". After much searching I found a small scuff on the back of the body. Otherwise looks and plays like brand new. I love the tone of the guitar. I've been playing for a couple of years and wanted something to use for learning classical and fingerstyle. I couldn't be happier.

Great Guitar Great Value

By Sol

from Lewes, DE

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

As someone just learning to play a guitar I did a lot of research to get the best value for a beginner like me. The C5 appears to be an excellent fit. It sounds good, has the "specs" I was looking for and looks and feels well made. After I brought it home I asked a friend, who is an experienced guitarist and whose whose opinion I value, to examine it. After a thorough check including the ability to tune it to his exacting standards, he played it so that I could hear the sound as a spectator as well as a player. Think I made a good choice. At my age I doubt that I'll ever learn to outplay the C5 capabilities.

A great guitar for an affordable price

By Vahid N

from Denton, TX

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

One of the best value classical guitars. For this price range this is the best guitar you can find hands down. I tried about 20 guitars at the store but as soon as I played a few chords on this guitar i knew this is the perfect one for me, buy this guitar and you wont regret it!
It is not so different with the more expensive model C7, both of the have warm and nice sound and play-ability!
