I owned one of these as my first >50 dollar classical and played it for several years before giving it away. I am about to buy another. The tone is very soft and warm and carries very well. You can coax a lot of volume from this model, although the tone can wash out a bit if you are playing very softly, but hey, it's not a 5000 dollar concert instrument either so... I don't believe it is possible to find a better guitar for this price range. I love the cedar top sound.

This guitar sounds fantastic, but the bridge keeps coming unglued. I have had two of these within 2 months do this. I keep it in a consistent 70 - 72 deg Fahrenheit with a relatively low humidity (probably 40%). I don't know if it was just a bad shipment or what, but I swear I haven't exposed it to any temperature swings or direct heat. Just store it in the gig bag it comes with. Guitarcenter has replaced it once no questions asked now I have to bring back the last replacement too. Their ProCoverage Warranty certainly has helped me feel better about this, but I just want to play. Anyone else experiencing this with one purchased late 2009 early 2010?

I'm happy with my purchase

By Paul W.

from Columbus, IN

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

It does not come "out of the box" set up best to play, obviously. Action was high (better than too low), so I filed down the saddle to get 3mm height above the 12th fret on the high E string and 4mm on the low E string. No buzz at all at those heights. I noticed the B and G strings, when tuned open, were slightly sharp on the 5th and 4th frets, respectively, so also filed a set-back on the saddle to flatten them (intonation) and that helped some. I also notice a very slight back-bowing in the neck that was fixed by about a 1/8 turn to loosen the truss rod.
I'm not the best judge of nylon string sound as I'm used to steel strings, but hear no obvious issues. The only fear I have is the bridge separation others have reported. I've only had it 2 weeks, and so far so good. IF that happens I'll change rating to 1 star. If it can be fixed with Elmers with no effect on sound I'll bring it up to 2 stars. That shouldn't happen to a $300 guitar, and the sales person said he saw none returned with that problem to his store. Let's hope it's been addressed by Cordoba in China.

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

Ordered 4 guitars and a ukelele. Two of the guitars were busted, one of which was this beautiful C5! I had ordered a case for the C5 thinking it would be shipped in the case. However, in order to save themselves (Guitar Center) some money I suppose, the guitar was shipped from a closer location without the case. It arrived in "destroyed " condition. The empty case arrived the next day just to add salt to the wound! So I have received two busted guitars from Guitar Center in less than 2 weeks. I was not too impressed with the service on the return as I figure I should have been told I would receive a replacement by at least two day air. So I am still without this beautiful C5 and seem to be in the business of returning damaged guitars. I would say if you can't drive to a local Guitar Center, don't order a guitar from this place. You'll have a 40% chance of receiving a fancy piece of kindling.
Gave it 3 stars because it is very beautiful even cracked all to hell.

      Outstanding guitar for the money

      By Mitchell Guitarguy

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I got this guitar coming from 10+ years on steel string guitars and I wanted to get into classical. Since I've got it, its been hard to put it down. The tone, the quality, everything is amazingly good for the price. The important thing is that you need to pay attention to the humidity and temperature conditions surrounding the guitar, because it is very sensitive to that, as all classical guitars are.

      My first Córdoba guitar

      By José

      from Orlando, FL

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I bought this guitar to learn to play fingerstyle. The frets stick out the fingerboard a little and they need to be file down. First guitar that I get with this but, I don't find it a big deal.

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I've just started to learn fingerstyle guitar and needed a nylon string (I'm a steel string flatpicker). I got my C5 and am impressed with the projection and ease of play. This is just what I needed!

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I'm just beginning my journey with Classical Guitar and have been working with my wife's Yamaha over the past month. She wanted to get back to using her guitar and told me to buy my own. After a month of research on the web reading reviews and recommendations and looking for a supplier I decided on the Cordoba C5 and Guitar Center. I made two great choices The guitar looks and sounds very good... as good as my wife's... perhaps better. I'm very happy with my choice.

      Great value.

      By Novice guitarist

      from Iowa

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

Purchased used from Guitar Center website. It was delivered on time and well packaged. The condition was listed as "great". After much searching I found a small scuff on the back of the body. Otherwise looks and plays like brand new. I love the tone of the guitar. I've been playing for a couple of years and wanted something to use for learning classical and fingerstyle. I couldn't be happier.

      Great Guitar Great Value

      By Sol

      from Lewes, DE

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

As someone just learning to play a guitar I did a lot of research to get the best value for a beginner like me. The C5 appears to be an excellent fit. It sounds good, has the "specs" I was looking for and looks and feels well made. After I brought it home I asked a friend, who is an experienced guitarist and whose whose opinion I value, to examine it. After a thorough check including the ability to tune it to his exacting standards, he played it so that I could hear the sound as a spectator as well as a player. Think I made a good choice. At my age I doubt that I'll ever learn to outplay the C5 capabilities.

A great guitar for an affordable price

      By Vahid N

      from Denton, TX

Comments about Cordoba C5 Acoustic Nylon String Classical Guitar:

One of the best value classical guitars. For this price range this is the best guitar you can find hands down. I tried about 20 guitars at the store but as soon as I played a few chords on this guitar i knew this is the perfect one for me, buy this guitar and you wont regret it!
It is not so different with the more expensive model C7, both of the have warm and nice sound and play-ability!
