I've been playing since yesterday and today. I've never owned a ukulele before, but this was given to me as a gift. Its a solid little mahogany instrument and sounds cool, but there are noticeable flaws mainly with the tuning pegs and the overall intonation of the instrument. The C string tuning peg has a little more slip in it than one would like and when everything is in tune, the slight crookedness of the neck makes it so that open chords in 1st and 3rd positions sound the best, but not perfect. Don't expect perfection at this price. Its a nice starter for someone trying to learn and the finish and binding are very nice, but the playability is a big issue. If a perfect uke were akin to a flawless PRS electric guitar, then this instrument is on par with a Squier stratocaster.

Best Bang for the Buck Ukulele available!

By Luis Cord_n

Comments about Cordoba 15CM Concert Ukulele:

I already have a Kala mahogany tenor, and I went into GC intending to buy a cheap beater uke to throw in the car, keep at the office, travel, etc. I figured I'd get the really low-end, $40 soprano they have there. This Cordoba caught my eye, however, and once I played it a bit, I knew I must have it. The tone is the equal of a couple of instruments I've played costing 2-3 times as much (still love my Kala, though), and it looks great too. The workmanship on mine is impeccable--no glue spots, perfect finish, frets all nicely filed and polished, decent intonation, and a nicely finished, level fretboard--on my kala, there's one note (13th fret on the A string that frets out on the 14th fret) that's unplayable due to a very slightly uneven fret. On this cheaper uke, no such problem. If you're just starting out, skip the under $50 beginner sopranos and go right to this concert uke instead. It'll save you the additional expenditure in a couple of months, after you know what you're doing and want a nicer instrument. Kamakas are in no danger from this one, but the cheapos can't compare to it.

Comments about Cordoba 15CM Concert Ukulele:

I have had this uke for about a month and a half. It's really great; I play it with a felt pick, and it sounds nice and thick when strummed around the 12th fret, and has a nice woody tone when played over the soundhole. The craftsmanship on this thing is amazing. It stays in tune very well, and this is just a great uke. The satin finish looks and feels great. It's just great. I would suggest anyone to buy this.

A Bargain For A Good Tone

By Chad Dimatulac

from Elgin, IL

Comments about Cordoba 15CM Concert Ukulele:

I have tested most of the ukuleles available at GC for the price range up to $150. And the Cordoba stands out in tone. This brand is known in the world of Classical Guitars and they certainly made a good ukulele without asking for more of your cash. Mostly constructed on Mahogany wood for the top, sides, back and neck with rosewood fret board giving it a warmer tone and is louder than the Mitchell MU70. Although the Mitchell has much more "good looks" in both finish and the choice of woods (spruce top, rosewood back and sides) but since the wood combination is more akin to steel guitars, the nylon strings didn't shine much in sound. This Cordoba gives you a good reference on how an ukulele should sound. A closer rival in tone is the Lanikai NK-C in Koa wood body but its in >$300 range. But I can't blame Lanikai for such price since Koa wood is rare and can only be found in Hawaii. I'm not a musician by profession and so having this Cordoba is much more practical just to have fun with my little 5 yr old son singing to him all his favorite Backyardigan songs. But when opportunity arises for me to play in public, I will not be ashamed to pull this out knowing this has a great tone.

Superb sound, playability at a great price.

By Brock Henning

from Mt. Vernon, IN

Comments about Cordoba 15CM Concert Ukulele:

I've been playing guitar for 16 years but have played musical instruments for 25+. Expanding taste to more classical sounds and always wanted a ukulele to add to repertoire. Researched several ukes online and chatted with local music stores. Almost landed on a Lanakai LKP-C Concert Pack for affordability plus the included extras (tuner, bag, etc.) until my local Guitar Center staff brought out a little surprise called the Cordoba 15CM. Besides the smooth Mahogany look (and I mean this gem looks great in person), the finger board is smooth, the included Aquila strings play well (I bought some Martin strings to try later on), and the geared tuners have held the tension well (re-tuned maybe 3-4 times in about a week, and I'm playing 2-3 hours a day...not bad for brand new strings). And for $99, I couldn't ask for a more pure sound out of the body. My daughter now asks me to play Iz riffs to put her to sleep at night. Cool. I bought a decently padded Cordoba bag for $25, much better than the bag in the Lanakai LKP-C pack. With free tuner apps available on the iPhone (check out Infinaut's "Ukulele Companion"), I got more for the money than spending $179 on the Lanakai kit. Nothing against Lanakai Ukes...I just feel I got a better setup for the price going with Cordoba this time around. I'm going to enjoy this Cordoba for many years. Can't wait to strum this baby on the beach.

Comments about Cordoba 15CM Concert Ukulele:

My daughter learned the ukulele at music camp, but decided the soprano was a bit small. We did some research online and at the store and decided on this model in the concert size. Initially we had some tuning issues, but decided this was because of the heat and humidity of going from the store, to a hot trunk and finally to the house. It has held it's tuning very well since then and this has been almost 3 months now. My daughter spends almost every spare moment either playing her uke, singing, or playing and singing.

Personally, I like the richer sound of the concert size. The slightly larger neck is easier for adult hands to find the correct strings. When we purchased this instrument we had 4 to choose from they all played well, so it was a matter of color choice. Since these are natural wood products, no 2 will look alike. If you can purchase at the store, I would recommend doing so. I will have to buy a second one since my daughter only lets me play hers briefly.
