Noise Drive

By Rick

from PA

Comments about Coffin Case BDFX-1 Blood Drive Distortion Pedal:

I am assuming that the pedal I received was defective. If not, it was by far the worst pedal I have ever tried in over 36 years of guitar playing. Even at the lowest gain settings, the noise rendered the effect completely useless unless you really need to cover you "skills" with noise from an effect pedal. With the overwhelming amount of overdrive , distortion, & fuzz pedals available today it amazes me that a company as large as MXR/Coffin could design & produce such a piece of junk like this.

New studio trick & treat.

By Mya Brown

from Eastcoast Fla.

Comments about Coffin Case BDFX-1 Blood Drive Distortion Pedal:

I bought this as a joke for the owner of the studio I work in. We got case's full of "fuzz" box's so I wasn't "looking" for any thing special. No one tells ya this thing is "plastic" looks like bakelite, if ya drop it it looks like it would shatter like glass. It does look great, I figured if it sucked I'd use the housing for something. I used a strat pluged into a old Fender tube amp, it sounds like a MXR distotion + with a week battery 9not a very good thing). I screwed around with it for about an hour using a L.P. a Marshall (wicked fuzz sounds). Bottom line: It is very quite, well built,(a little tricky to gut it). But did not sound any better than any other overdrive/distortion pedal we have in the studio. A couple of days later I listened to a lead track the head engineer laid down for some band & heard a blistering guitar I never heard before. He had taken th Blood Drive & ran out of the "mixer" side into a 30 band E.Q. & a cheap delay pedal. Instant "Boston",( an old 70's band for you kids). Crazy sustain & very controlled feedback. Everyone was blown away. This pedal will no dout go down in history as a misunderstood effect, 5 stars for a studio tool. Not very useful as a live distortion & it is larger than it looks (takes up to much space on a pedal board). Next project is a "Eagle's" type of band & we are gonna try it on pedal steel. Hope this helps someone in they'r quest for sound modification.

Pretty in a casket

By Carcinogen

from Phoenix

Comments about Coffin Case BDFX-1 Blood Drive Distortion Pedal:

This OD pedal by Coffin Case is not a gimmick, its not a joke, its not a gag product. What it actualy is, is the single best Overdrive unit I've ever worked with. I've tried all manor of Boss OD pedals, Ibanez Tube Screamers, Line 6 and Tech 21 amp modelers... this unit pretty much stomps anything I've ever used. The distortion is warm and tastefully done. I was expecting something cold and sterile sounding, something more along the lines of an Ibanez Smash Box or a Metalzone pedal, but I was pleasantly surprised. I use it in front of my Carvin X100B, tubed with EH 12AX7's and Sovtek KT88's. It sings, it growls, it does everything I need it to. I use it on the bass guitar for extra umph, and I've used it on vocals. All in all, a great overdrive pedal.

Distortion Only

By Austin Kramer

from Mesa, AZ

Comments about Coffin Case BDFX-1 Blood Drive Distortion Pedal:

I didn't really feel that it was a great pedal to use for overdrive. It just gave me an extra bump of distortion, and not much at that. Other than that it was a pretty nice pedal. Built to last, and useful in dark areas.

It Will Blow You Away!!!

By MetalHead98

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Coffin Case BDFX-1 Blood Drive Distortion Pedal:

I've been a fan of Coffin Case for a while now and have 2 of their cases, which I love by the way. When they came out with the pedal though, I wasn't quit sure about it since they are mainly known for their cases. I decided to give it a try anyway not knowing what to expect. I'm telling you, the sound is just awesome. I was pretty shocked myself. I think it's cool how they have great quality cases and now they have an awesome sounding pedal as well. Can't wait to see what else they come out with!
