I recomend getting this pack, It is very durrable, sounds good even 8 months, and doesn't lose sound quality in humid locations. They don't snap and break easily like other strings when constantly drop tuning and tuning up. For the money it is worth it, you will save 25-50 bucks in a year with these strings, Hey thats like 8.5 packs of picks containing 12 picks. =)
Lately every time I have been at a guitar store and have asked the clerk for Elixirs or have heard someone else ask for them, I hear the clerk at the store tell them to try the Cleartone. I picked up a set and am less than impressed. Obviously, for the price, I am expecting a high quality, durable string, and I do assume that these strings are durable. I choose the lighter gauge strings because I like a bright and sustaining string. In the past, I learned to use the Elixir Nano's because they don't sound cheap or tinny, but they ring out and sustain with a quality tone. These Cleartones feel fine, but they certainly do not have the bright sustain that I have come to expect from Elixir. In fact I put the cleartones on a guitar when I had just installed some new pickups that I had been wanting for a long time. When I did put them on, I thought that there was a problem with the pickup installation. I was about to take it apart again and return the pickups, but before I did a friend suggested I try it with my Elixir Nano's with the same gauges. It was a world of difference. The Elixirs made the pickups sound just the way I wanted. The guitar sounded dead and lifeless with the cleartones but bright and live with the Elixirs. It was that big of a difference. The cleartones had far less sustain, and had black rub off on my fingers after about 10 minutes of playing which never happens with Elixirs. I really am not sure why anyone would suggest cleartone strings over Elixirs. It makes me feel like there is more profit margin on the cleartones and the store is making more money on them. Otherwise I can't imagine why they are promoting such a dead sounding string.
