These last waaayyy longer than any other coated string I've tried and are just louder. Elixers have a pretty heavy coating and they are usually dead sounding for the first day or so.....not these, they sing when they're tuned up and they are the loudest strings I've tried. My old first choice (Alchemy) is now my backup choice. Good product, I would like to seem them get in the price range of other coated strings.
I have used Elixir and Cleartone, as well as a variety of uncoated strings, and Cleartone was definitely the best. I have used them for about a year, playing on an Ovation CC24, and they still sound nearly as good as they did right out of the package. I like them better than Elixirs because the Elixir Polywebs I used on my Ovation before I switched flaked too much coating off. So, I decided to try Cleartone, and I don't regret it at all. I recommend them to anyone who wants great tone and long string life at a reasonable price.
After reading a review in a magazine I thought I would try Cleartone strings. The experience was far less than satisfactory. I have used many brands of strings in my 40 years of guitar playing and have used Elixir strings for quite some time, because I like coated strings, and after trying Cleartone strings, (because they said they were superior to the leading coated strings), promptly took them off my guitar and put the Elixirs back on. A couple of the strings sounded so dead, right out of the box, you would think you had them on for a long time. Very disappointing buy, especially since I could have bought Elixir strings at a cheaper price. Elixirs have never failed me. Cleartones did not have the punch, sustain or ring that I was used to getting from Elixir Strings. I'm not sorry if this sounds like a sales pitch for Elixir. I just know what sounds good and what doesn't and Cleartone is clearly a bad tone to my ears.
