Comments about Clayton Pork Knuckle Ceramic Guitar Slide:

Don't you love reviews of slides that complain about it being too small/big but don't tell you how big their hands are or which finger they put the slide on? Kinda useless, huh? So, it's important to note that I have slightly smaller than average hands for a man (between a medium and large size glove) and I play with the slide on my pinkie. The 'medium' Pork Knuckle fits me perfectly (I assume the small is meant for female players or very young players? Because it has a very narrow interior diameter.)

With that out of the way, this is a fantastic ceramic slide. Super smooth surface. The ribbed interior really give you a feeling of comfort and security. It's 'grips' your finger without feeling too tight, meaning it doesn't feel like it'll fall off if I put my hand down, but pulls off my finger with ease. The tone and sustain match or exceed every other ceramic slide I own, and I own dozens. Unfortunately, the thing that give it that tone and sustain is the very thing that many players won't like: it's big, and it's heavy. It is, actually, heavier than almost every slide I own, even the brass and metal ones.

This is a great slide for resonator guitar players, acoustic and Delta Blues style players. Anyone whose guitar has action set higher to accommodate a good deal of slide playing. If, however, you are an electric guitar player and/or you keep your action on the medium to low side, this slide won't work for you. There is too much weight and heft to this slide and you'll be bumping and grinding on your frets all day.

It's a well made, well designed slide that performs perfectly. Just make sure it matches your set up and style of playing.

      Bigger/heavier than I expected

Comments about Clayton Pork Knuckle Ceramic Guitar Slide:

My local store did not have this product in stock, so I ordered it sight unseen.

It is a quality slide, and it had all the advertised features (very smooth outer surface/rougher ribbed inside), but the description on Guitar Center's website does not point out this slides distinguishing characteristic: it's size/weight.

This thing is a big chunk of ceramic. The diameter of Pig Knuckle is much bigger than any other ceramic slide I've seen (especially the Dunlop Moonshine). Correspondingly, it is very heavy. This is not necessarily a criticism, but it is not the best situation for the way I play.

This is not a good choice for someone who plays with the slide on their pinky.
