Smooth playing and long lasting!

The Black Raven pick has been specially formulated to suit your needs as a musician. This incredible pick is made out of a material called Acetal that has undergone a special process that reduces unwanted string pop. In addition, it produces clean overtones, has a non-slip surface, a fast release, and holds up to even the most demanding performance.

  • Clayton Black Jazz Picks

As reviewed by TalRaney on 10/9/2006

I've been using Clayton Black Jazz Small Teardrop Picks for about 5 years. I used to use the White Small Teardrop picks also made by Clayton, but decided to try the black ones out of curiosity. No stores in NY carried them, so I ordered about 40 black ones and 40 white ones through a local music store, in case the black ones didn't work out. As it turned out, I preferred the black ones to the white ones because of the mellow quality of their attack. I play only jazz on a Borys B120 electric archtop guitar through an old, orange Roland Cube-60 with no effects, so I always use a clean sound. Regular plastic picks sound too weak and thin to me, so I started using the white Claytons because they had a softer attack but still had a strong full sound. The black ones are the same, but have an even less pronounced attack. One thing to consider though is the fact that the sound you get out of these picks is unlike the sound of any other pick. I made a CD with only upright bass and drums, with the guitar plugged straight into the board, using only Clayton Black and White picks, and their sound is unmistakeable throughout, so you better like that type of sound, cause that's all you're going to get.
