I ordered a restock laser as I didn't want to pay the full retail price. It seems to work OK although, at first, I thought it wasn't responding to the remote control but you have to make sure you're aiming it correctly at the unit so it receives the IR signal. I wouldn't want to use it without a DMX or IR controller as it would be inconvenient to have to change patters on the unit itself (pretty much applies to any effect, I guess!). I actually wanted to order one of Chauvet's Fat laser beam units but they don't use IR controllers so you're forced into using a DMX controller (unless you leave it on automatic). That being said, the unit puts out very bright laser beams/patterns and is a nice effect. A little difficult to see how well it reacts to sound but I think it does!! The remote allows you to turn the lasers off and then turn them on when you need the effect so it's not constantly on! You can also select JUST blue, JUST green, or both colors!!
