The colorstrip is a fantastic light fixture for the money - I couldn't believe the amount of light that comes out of them! The built-in chase patterns of the strip are *very* impressive, especially the last sequence which goes through all of the different chase patterns (and is the one seen on the Chauvet website video.) It's also a sound-activated pattern (which isn't shown in the Chauvet video), and it looks fantastic going to the music. However, I did end-up actually *returning* the ColorStrips, and I thought it would be good to share with all of you why: My biggest complaint of the ColorStrip is the extremely limited DMX control available with them. They are only "4-channel" DMX devices, and if you look in the details on the manual (which you can download from their website), you'll see that there's a very limited range of options available to control the device. Basically, DMX channel 1 is used to select between all the built-in programs, and (mostly) get one other channel to control either run speed or chase speed of *that* program. You can't actually go in there to make custom chase programs, because you can't address the different light banks of each LED group individually. If you want to get into that level of detailed DMX control, spend the extra money for the American DJ MegaPixel LED - which is mostly an equivalent product with a much more diverse option of DMX control. On that note, another big problem with the Chauvet is the inability to *dim* the lights. If you're in close proximity to the lights, or they operate in a small room, or if they are directly facing the audience - you may want to dim them. But you can't do that electronically. Finally, the auditory control of the unit is OK - but I found the music had to be pretty darn loud to control it adequately. I had a sub pointing right at the strip, too. The lack of audio input is a pain - especially if the DMX control is so weak. Still, all-in-all, it's a good product for the price, and it will suit the needs of many people for an outstanding party light. (hence the 4-star review.) Enjoy!

Bought two. One is junk. Cheap materials. Buttons were barely responsive on day one. LED menu panel quit working completely on day two. Spend the extra cash for the ColorRail IRC. Infinitely better build quality, brighter, and better color blending for only twenty extra bucks.

Comments about Chauvet DJ COLORstrip Four-Channel DMX-512 LED Linear Wash Light:

These are great because they work both as a wash and as an effect. Get 2 or more if you can, as the runway effects are great. They feel quite sturdy as the case is all metal.

Chauvet colorstrip

By Mad Mike

Comments about Chauvet DJ COLORstrip Four-Channel DMX-512 LED Linear Wash Light:

After much research and price comparison searching i purchased 2 chauvet colorstrips and 2 chauvet colorstrip mini i have to say that GC was the best price and shipping was fast 5 days from order to arrival. packaged well and in perfect condition as for the lights WOW they are much brighter than i imagined they would be and the programing is awesome. what an addition to any light show i will be buying more perhaps 2 more CS and 2 more CS mini's. because of the master slave relay they work well for many apps and i love them. if you want to add a great color changing effect buy these they rock.

Buy Now!

By Kirk Marske

Comments about Chauvet DJ COLORstrip Four-Channel DMX-512 LED Linear Wash Light:

Lights and lighting effects have never been a big focus of what I do as a DJ. I've primarily used your basic par can lights with color filters on a T-bar, controlled by a simple controller. Last year, I started a transition to LED lights with some Chauvet wash lights and a DMX controller. I recently bought this LED Linear Wash Light and I finally had a chance to use it this weekend. It exceeded my expecations in a big way. On its own (one unit, without a DMX controller) it can do A LOT, but I will likely buy another and use them as my entire light set for most of what I do. It has a lot of single-color wash light options and even more chase sequences, including a strobe effect. It took me a little while to figure out the controls (before I used it at a gig) but the instruction book was a lot more detailed than some other DMX lighting products. If you are going to start using LED lighting or if you are looking to add more, do not hesitate to buy this unit - it was easily the best $200 I've spent on lighting (or anything else for that matter)!

This is a wonderful light.

By Christopher Cevallos

from San Antonio Tx.

Comments about Chauvet DJ COLORstrip Four-Channel DMX-512 LED Linear Wash Light:

This light is the best investment that I have ever done. The Colorstrip had done wonderful job on my light show. I purchased 2 Colorstrip and linked them together. Linking them was as easy as plugging in the DMX wire. The CS lid up the dance floor wonderful. It is light weight so it wasn't a strain on my Lighting Truss. The only Complaint that I have gotten was that it was too bright. That left me with a huge smile on my face. The colors are clear as day. And it's LED lights so that made me even happier. My advice is to buy this light because it is worth every penny. Use Program 23, it does it automatic and it easier to use.

Comments about Chauvet DJ COLORstrip Four-Channel DMX-512 LED Linear Wash Light:

Great lights BUT they do not work with all Chauvet cotrollers. I purchased an Obey 6, a 6 channel controller for these 4 channel colorstrips. After days of trying to figure out what was wrong, I called Chauvet and they immediately told me the Obey 6 is incompatible, and I would need an Obey 10, 40 or 70.

Comments about Chauvet DJ COLORstrip Four-Channel DMX-512 LED Linear Wash Light:

It worked fine for one gig, then simply turned off on the second gig, not 10 days after I purchased it. wont turn on, just sits there dead as a doornail. hopefully just one malfunctioning unit, but I'll be playing it safe and go with American DJ products from now on.

Comments about Chauvet DJ COLORstrip Four-Channel DMX-512 LED Linear Wash Light:

Wow, this bar is amazing, the things you can do with one of these bars is amazing let alone the extra settings chauvet has put in for multiple bar use. Super bright and no brightness setting like ADJ has on there's but this will save you money so aim it a little bit of the crowd, never disappointed by chauvet!

      Wow is this thing bright

      By Dave Reiger

      from New Jersey

Comments about Chauvet DJ COLORstrip Four-Channel DMX-512 LED Linear Wash Light:

I picked up one of these to replace an old school light tree (par cans, chase controller). I'm getting more! This light rocks! Far brighter than I expected, and simple. Can't wait to run this thing on DMX and get the full benefit from it. On sound chase alone, it's a fine light. 4 stars due to the fact you can't dim it without DMX, but otherwise this things awesome.

      Good but not great

      By MARGARET CHAVANU

      from Seattle, WA

Comments about Chauvet DJ COLORstrip Four-Channel DMX-512 LED Linear Wash Light:

PROS - Sturdy. Good value. Bright. CONS - DMX AND POWER cables protrude too far out to stand "straight up". Even with the longer included brackets. Each LED color are in separate "banks/clusters". Meaning each color of LEDs are not mixed all together. Which may be nice for certain effects. [RRR+GGG+BBB+RRR+GGG+BBB] not [RGBRGBRGBRGB]
