Comments about Chauvet DJ Intimidator Spot Duo Dual LED Moving Head Spot:

I purchased one of these lights awhile back (almost a year prior to this review) and I loved the stand alone modes and sound activated mode that is built into this light it is perfect for a mobile DJ/entertainer. Then I purchased another Spot Duo (3 months ago) and set it up in master slave mode with the other unit and the coordinated shows between all 4 moving heads made my shows look like I had a really talented lighting expert controlling them the entire night. Now for the not so good stuff. I have gotten into DMXing lately and started to mess with these heads and Chauvet's ShowXpress and I quickly found out that the two heads makes it difficult to program synchronized movements. (it is possible but you have to rebuild the profile of the unit for SX, however after that it works like 4 independent moving heads so its not all bad.) The second issue is the beam angle it is very narrow at 6 degrees so the spots come out like beams and its very had to get the gobo shapes to provide coverage for a wall unless its more than 50 feet away. However, that is where you run in to this units fatal flaw. The Spot Duos heads only contain a 10w LED (ea) so it is very easly washed out by pars that have 3w LEDs or brighter. Overall, I am very happy with these spots and I highly recommend them for mobile entertainers! But if you plan on adding them to some larger lighting rigs and DMXing then I recommend saving your cash and buying 2 Chauvet Intimidator Spot LED 250s.

Inexpensive Lighting With A Solid Performance Result

Comments about Chauvet DJ Intimidator Spot Duo Dual LED Moving Head Spot:

I bought two Chauvet duo spots from Guitar Center after researching them extensively online and watching youtube videos of them. I am in a three piece rock band that uses old school par can lighting on the back truss and also for side lighting. We wanted to add the look and movement of these spots for increased motion and interest to our stage show. They are great! As advertised, they are easy to run and use. They look great coupled with our fog machines and the multiple beams running through them. We use them on auto in small clubs and they go to the beat of the bass drum/rhythm and work very well. I think they would be less effective in larger clubs. You would need something with more throw. However, in smaller clubs and bars, they work great. They seem sturdy but I bought padded cases with them which I strongly recommend if they are going to travel. So far I am very impressed and happy with my purchase. By the way, Guitar Center matched an advertised price and combo deal from another website that included stands, cables, a truss and the soft cases with two duo spots. Great Deal!! I use them on the stands without the truss and they take up very little room. A lot of bang for the buck!
